Yes. One is a Walker replacement. Veltman in our system would be a ball-playing centre back in the Dier Toby Jan mould.

the thing is would Veltmen want to join us knowing he was definitely starting on the bench

yes I know we are due to play a lot of fixtures, but signing both means we have 3 players vying RB/RWB 3 players vying for 3 places at RCB, 2 that will be able to cover RB/RWB

Quite clearly Davies would play there in a back three.

Is it clear tho! How often has he played there for spurs. Only a question not disagreeing mind. Obviously for Wales yes. Did we not drop wanyama in at CB at one point last season. I personally dont rate either Davies or Wimmer at CB....even Dier I don't think is good enough there. In the absence of Jan and Toby I feel we are seriously worse off. Pretty obvious I guess but class cover there is what we really need in my opinion.

Don't see anyone we have being adequate cover for Vertonghen if Wimmer goes. Dier and Veltman are both right sided. Cue people saying 'it doesn't matter', but, in my opinion it does.
It definitely matters

We play two or three behind a striker.

Dele, Eriksen, Lamela, Son and another (Lemar) would provide great options for 4 competitions. Form and injuries need to be covered. Our only weakness last season was perhaps strength in depth.

Sessegnon would also be used in cups and maybe further forward.

Just doesn't leave much room for GKN or Sissoko but they haven't really shown Poch they're good enough.

Obviously agree Lemar would represent an upgrade on Sissoko, GKN and Clinton, and Josh, but given we play with two more often than three I don't think we should spend our limited budget on this position. I'd prefer we spunk on a striker who can play wide. Lemar would cost north of thirty mill, thirty five?

Veltman and Periera in, walker and wimmer out with spare cash for Lemar sounds good to me!

We then just need a back up striker and CM and we are sorted..... dreaming :)

If we can sign Lemar, we should.

Sessegnon, Ricardo, Lemar, Barkley and Veltman in. (or similar)

Walker, Wimmer, Bentaleb, Sissoko out.

Daniel can balance the books more or less and we are much stronger.
