With what GF is saying, I imagine how we do things is negotiate early on so the channel is open then I imagine Levy comes in with a stupid fucking offer which is why we hear a lot of the deals are dead and then late on when he feels they're in a position of weakness where they need money and no other suitors he will come in with more favourable terms. Which is why he has a reputation for being a ballache. Chances are I'm entirely wrong but trying to put the pieces together

Aha, I knew @Archibald&Crooks was secretly negotiating with Levy . But seriously though, isn’t this how it works. The on off on info we’ve had passed on in good faith from Trix, Herc etc just backs this up. As GF says there’s all kinds of stuff happening we never get to hear about that goes on for months beforehand. It’s what makes the occasional snippets of ITK we do get so compelling - and why we are here every 10 mins. For anyone who hasn’t /doesn’t already, do stick a few quid the way of the site and make sure we can do this all again in January...

I’d expect JJ to be too cautious to use any term other than trying unless it was done and dusted already. He hasn’t earned his reputation by giving in to the temptation to claim a deal is all but done before the ink is dry.

Let’s just hope ‘trying’ here means ‘genuinely doing all that is realistically possible to get a big deal done for Poch’.

In at least the past decade we've not had a summer transfer window where we've failed on all fronts and where we've not signed at least one player who has gone on to have major impact in the first team. I don't get where this attitude comes from that we always fail. The club say we're still trying. All the ITKs do rigth up until today. The track record is of pulling off deals. Our history says the chances of at least one half decent signing is greater than not.

When Gareth Bale strolls into Hotspur way at 10:00pm on 9th August you won't say we've failed then.

I still worry that too much is being left up in the air that it can still go horribly wrong but until they change their tune I'll keep hoping.

It’s quite clear that this window has been tricky. Clearly a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes to get ducks in a row to try and get Pochs top targets in eventually. It’s a waiting game now to see if it pays off. From the snipets of ITK we’ve had it doesn’t feel like we’re getting all Plan A’s in requires positions but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to get some decent talent in. We’re not looking for bench warmers here and we’re not going to over pay like LFC so if a patient game of chess is required to get the best combo in I’m happy to sit it out. Just might need to apply a little more deodorant as we near the deadline!

Well, he signed at five but the plane didn't get him to the new player rooms until 10:00pm!

If JJ is continuing his progression in reducing the information that he discloses, he will be the earliest indicator of where we are with any particular transfer. I remember that he kept things quite close to the vest (even when he was very optimistic about a potential deal), and he only referenced particular players when the deal was imminent. See Davinson Sanchez. His most recent ITK fits within that pattern and I look forward to his disclosure of the name.

I think the issue that a lot of people have is not just the lack of signings, but the fact that once more our potential new signings won't get a pre-season to bed in.

It was always likely that there were things going on behind the scenes that the general public are not privy to. It would be HUGELY surprising if there weren’t. So do not assume your ignorance, or the ignorance of anyone else (INCLUDING ITK), means that we are not doing anything.
