While I still have a funny, inevitable feeling that we are leaving everything a little late to get the deals done, that comment by JJ does at least give me some hope again that we have been following a plan....rather than progressing through the window in a shambolic haze of clusterfuck-ery, which is certainly the impression the majority of us have...

Here's hoping JJ is calm and confident - I trust that bloke.

I assume he simply means there are things we're working on that haven't broken yet, not that the things that are out there (Zaha, Martial etc) aren't true.

Definitely encouraging but too late? As we enter levy time we shall see. As frustrating as this window has been i still have hope that we can bring in at least one player that can make a difference.

But for sure we have recently witnessed surprise signings like Sanchez and Son and i do genuinely believe we are in for someone that has not been linked and its great to see JJ confirming this today.

I just hope Levy will take risks and make the signing/s without thinking about selling first as we know the window closes for the rest of Europe at end of the month. Really hope this doesnt intervene with our efforts.

Still somehow hold hope on the Toby/Martial swap as i feel this is the player Poch really wants. To me it seems not alot of clubs maybe apart from Chelsea that will make a move or be able to afford to bid. And its clear to see Mourinho and Martial are not on good terms. If anything this has deadline day written all over it but all depends on how much Utd want Toby after seeing them linked with Mina and Maguire.

Anyway... Only a week left now so lets see what happens.

We always follow a plan with respect. Where do you think all the ITK comes from? If we were standing with our dicks in the wind there would be little to report.

All the club can do is identify it's targets, primary and secondary, and start talking to the clubs where the players are at. Negotiations can and do change on a daily and often hourly basis, hence the erratic nature of the information we get. It's the nature of football, especially in a tough window like this.

The only issue we may have is Levy's tough negotiating style, but that's not dictated by how organised we are in terms of our targets. Now Donna Cullen has come out during the past few days and said that basically we can't really start dumping huge cash amounts like Liverpool or City do, so I would expect that all throughout this window and even now a lot of tough negotiations are going on behind the scenes. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a deadline day special for not just us but also quite a few other clubs because of how the window is going. Must be costing Jim White a fortune in getting all the crusty jizz stains out of his yellow tie.

Indeed. We have no idea one way or the other. Though it is reassuring that we have something moving in the background. Personally my view is that one special player could rescue this window, so long as adequate replacements are made for any players leaving.

I don’t know the answer but I took it as one joining and one leaving imminently, but maybe that’s just me being hopeful.


Of course it's pointless to guess on it any more, but hoping it might reduce the posts that think it was the total for the window.

I read it the same way as HY mainly because we need to get rid of more than one player.
