Literally just posted in his thread that I thought there was substance to this Ainsley-Maitland Niles link - no idea why they'd sell to us though, surely would be several other takers especially being homegrown.

Can only see it if he's brought in as one of two new TBD, as his versatility and homegrown status would make him a v useful backup.

I hope the rumoured 20m is way off the mark. Didn't rate him one bit at RB from what I saw but I guess he's a HG utility player. What would come below 'underwhelmed'?

I imagine that's why he appeals to us.

Can play CDM and RB, therefore we don't spend 20m on a back up RB and 15-20m on a back up DM.

The Athletic had a bit of info back in June about him wanting out at the Emptycrate because he doesn't fit in Arteta's plans. Under contract until 2023. I'm not against the move if it comes on the cheap. If Jose sees talent in him then I believe that Jose has forgotten more about football than the combined minds of SC will ever know.
