Given our links to club and the incredible games over the last couple of weeks I thought it was time to start a thread for all things Ajax related.

There's two games left in the Eredivisie season with Ajax leading PSV by goal difference.

Fuck ‘em to be honest. Hope they lose the league too. Fans were absolute ****s over here and they’ve continued that online since. Most of them are now rooting for Pool as we had the temerity to beat them in the end.

Always liked them as a club, but playing them has made me see them as petulant little pricks.

Aren't there historic links between them and the gooners. Pretty sure they were chanting "arsenal" during the home leg.

Fuck them.

I thought the links were between us and them. There was a Fighting Cock episode a few months ago where Flav was talking to some Ajax fans about the connection between the two clubs and the Dutch guys seemed to be saying that Tottenham and Ajax had a special relationship as well. He was out there to do another special earlier this week so it will be interesting listening to that when it comes out.

Maybe the Arsenal thing was a recent thing because as Overmars is the technical director and Bergkamp was assistant manager.

I watched the game on TV so I don't know how bad the trouble was. How many were involved? Are we talking a handful, or a large part of their fan base?

Don't take any notice of social media. You're going to get stuff like that from every club out there.

Gonna be interesting to see how many of their starting 11 will be there next season.

Even their manager is linked with a move.

I got back from Amsterdam last night and there was a few arseholes out there...,some of them were from Ajax.
I reviewed the Ajax Club Shop on line for TripAdvisor and I'll post it on here.

Here it is:

Reviewed today
Nice stadium.
"The stadium has a club shop which we visited to hopefully buy some things to remember our stay but to be honest the cost of everything is outrageous and even the cheap tat is overpriced.
The shop staff were, it seemed, very down and gloomy almost depressed and I suppose it might have been due to Tottenham Hotspur knocking them out of the champions League semi final the night before, no one was smiling or welcoming to the customers.
It was like walking into a church during a funeral, well I suppose it was a funeral really because they were burying their Champions League hopes and expectations.
The surrounding area seemed a bit tired and worn, the same as their team.
Anyway, we didn't buy anything but left smiling and thinking that the trip was well worth it
." ?

To be honest I think "special relationship" is a bit of a stretch. I listened to the same podcast and the impression I got from it is that we're both clubs that have a historic "Jewish" identity and at the moment we've got a few of their ex-players so some of their fans keep an eye out on how e.g. Verts is getting on with us, but that's about it. I don't think there's any kind of "alliance" or anything like that, officially or otherwise.

Two incidents we know of were, (1). 3 Ajax fans watching the game in a bar in dam square and chatting with spurs fans. the rest of the people in the bar were Spurs fans, Ajax score and they celebrate, a Spurs fan throws a pint of lager at one of them and gives it the big un....until he is told he's a **** by fellow spurs fans and then a couple of other spurs fans tell him a few other things that he is, the guy who threw the pint expected to get a hero's response but was fuck out of luck, he then claims it was an accident and his mate had knocks his arm!! then the owner came over swore at him and threw him out, to the cheers of almost everyone in there.

(2). Similar set up only it's 4 spurs fans in an Ajax bar who celebrate when we scored, an Ajax fan punches one of the spurs supporters and knocks him out, the police arrest 3 Ajax fans for assault.

Apart from that it was pretty quiet.

Wife was a bit stroppy around 8.30 about missing some programme but it never turned to violence. A glaring look as I opened yet another can of lager seemed to do the trick....so all quiet where I was.

That's probably fair. I did think the special relationship bit was possibly/probably Flav putting words in their mouths. Like you say they probably prefer us to other English teams because of ex player links. I'm still interested in hearing the next special that he's doing though.

The Ajax 21-22 third kit is set to introduce a bold new look for the club, paying tribute to Bob Marley.

They've been singing 3 little birds since 2008/2009; it fits quite well with their fans and the city of Amsterdam. Bob Marley's son Ky-Mani is an Ajax fan as well..
