Really hard to predict, which is a testament to how good our squad is right now.

It seems harsh to drop Vinicius after his performance against LASK, and Harry obviously plays. The idea of them playing together has been alluded to before, so perhaps that's something Jose would look at.

Also seems harsh to drop Davies, so maybe we'll see him again at CB with Reguilon staying at LB.

So many options, really exciting to see what happens.

Being harsh is not an issue. The 11 players best suited to win the game should play. There's no place for sentiment.

Why change an attacking set up that is working very well to shoe horn Vinicius because he had some assists against a european side equivalent to league 1? No need for that. Davies wont start either. He’ll give Toby another go next to Sanchez if Dier cant go. Also, theres another EL game in 3 days for Davies & Vinicius to play in.

Would this be the best type if game to give Rodon his debut? Certainly makes more sense than starting him against a team that play intricate football with smaller attackers.

I would be very tempted to start him if he's been training well.

Not sure Rodon will play much if at all until January.

I mean he's a full international who won a man of the match award in the last international break. He's 6'4 and we've been told he's commanding in the air which is our biggest weakness and Burnley's strength. This isn't an 18 year old plucked from an academy he's a solid international who even if Jose doesn't want to chuck him straight in would have been loaned back if we weren't serious about giving him time in the league considering he missed the Europa window and loaning him back would no doubt have made him cheaper.

Mourinho on Rodon.

Rodon has yet to play for the Lilywhites since joining from Swansea but it's clear to see that he has made quite an impression in his short time in the capital.

"Let’s say that it is a team thing, it’s not just about individuals," he admitted. "We need to be able to play with all these attacking players and have the team with everybody ready to be organised defensively and not to give space to the opponent. And behind, we need to improve in some details – that’s obvious.

"You look to our squad and incredible quality and numbers and options from midfield to attack and we are trying to find solutions and we are trying to be organised.

"Today for example Ben [Davies] played, I think, for the first time as a centre-back in a back four because before it was in a back five.

"Joe Rodon, we just love his potential, his mentality. He needs to work to get there.

"Matt Doherty has just arrived and he is also adapting. Reguilon, of course, is, especially going forward, an incredible player. He needs also to adapt to the defensive demands of the Premier League. It’s a process."

I do think vinicius will start tomorrow... Gives us extra height in the box for set pieces etc.

Dont think he will but he’s going to be a good option to throw on. Love that he is a different kind of game changer for us.

Honest question, do you guys think Burnley fans worry so much about how they will match up against us? We all worry about their height and aerial threat and so would start Sissoko, Davies, Doherty, Dier (none of them are bad options). Do we set up to try to nullify their threat knowing we are unlikely to be at our flowing best or do we play our biggest weapons knowing they likely won’t be able to handle us?

Seems when we discuss it, it’s always the option to counter the opponents strength (and so play to their style) rather than play to their weakness. We absolutely footballed them off the pitch last year, surely that’s the plan.

I'd like to see:

Lloris
Doherty Dier Rodon Reguilon
Hojbjerg Lo Celso
Ndombele
Bale Kane Son

What I expect to see:

Lloris
Doherty Sanchez Dier Reguilon
Hojbjerg Lo Celso
Ndombele
Bergwijn Kane Son
I think he'll go for the height of Doherty to help us defend set pieces and doubt he'll start Bale twice within 5 days. Could see Sissoko starting ahead of Lo Celso, but hopefully he feels Gio is ready and we finally get to see that midfield 3. I also think it would be a good time to give Rodon a run out, but doubt he'll throw him in just yet (although with Jose you never know).

I bet most fan forums include the same kind of discussion before most matches. We're familiar with Premier League opponents, so it's fun to analyse them, assemble possible starting lineups, and play out imaginary encounters. I'm sure Burnley fans are assembling their own lineups to deal with Kane and Son, for example.

Mourinho said something about not expecting loads of goals in this tough game, so I fully expect him to set us up to absolutely football them off the pitch again.

Agreed but unfortunately gave the ref a decision to make.

Without the bad touch it never happens though.

This is the way I see it - we can complain about it, but if it's handled better the ref isn't even put in that position

Good teams don't rely on excuses

There doesn't seem to be much forum-wise for Burnley. These fellas aren't confident

I can't see JM starting NDom and GLC together much at all - and I think he trusts Gio more to do the hard yards.

I think it's a shame that Dele isn't even in the squad, I would have liked to have seen him at least on the bench.
