442 didn't really work against RB but I think Jose had the right idea in that we need two up top to retain any real attacking threat. We have two useful wing backs in Serge and Sess so I'd let them get forward and play 3 at the back.

I’m so confused by every lineup that has ndombele playing deeper than Lo Celso. I don’t get that at all.

Ndombele is great at beating people but still loses possession a lot for that reason playing deep makes no sense as he loses the ball near our goal which could lead to opposition having a goal chance . Playing him further forward makes more sense as his forte is forward passes to make goal scoring chances and losing the ball further upfield decreases the chance of conceding a goal chances for opponents but not completely .

In a strange way I think we need to use our lack of strikers to our advantage. It clearly isn’t going to work playing in to any of our forwards with lumped balls, but all of them have some pace or trickery about them which can be used to unlock defences from closer range.

I’d like to see Lucas, Bergwijn, Lamela, Alli all rotate in and out of positions or almost be positionless. It’ll be hard for defences to pick them up or track them as closely meaning that guys like Lo Celso, Ndombele etc. can play them in.

We’ll obviously continue to lump it from the back though.

Park the bus 1st half; don't play a striker.
Put Berwijn and Lucas on 2nd half if we can win.
Rest of the team picks itself due to fitness issues (i.e: No Ndombele, Lamela etc who have limited minutes).
I think you have to trust the manager if they publicly say a player is unfit. I think its very likely both above players have recurring injury issues. Lamela especially; I can't remember him playing 5-10 games for 90 mins.

I especially like being able to bring Lamela off the bench in order to have two Lamela's on the pitch at the same time, would be amazing! ?

I would like to see Dele up front as the striker - yes he is better arriving from deep, but he has the qualities to play up there and has before. Hopefully Jose subbing him against Leipzig was a ploy to keep him fresh while also firing him up for Chelsea game.

Agree but who though? Moura does his best but thats not his position or what he is good at.
Whoever we put there it wont be there position or what they are good at either.
Id go 433 but it wont happen.

Use Gedson, Lamela, Sessegnon as impact players/ subs as and when a player needs it or is out of steam. I would suggest starting Lamela but let's be honest after Mourinho said he could only do 20 minutes Wednesday do we really think he's fit enough to start for us at the moment? For the same reasons possibly start Gedson from the off and bring Ndombele on bitmap I say we start him in this one, go at them from the off.

Retaining possession is going to be so important here. Adding Lamela and Ndombele to the 11 will hopefully help that. Don’t want to see Dier anywhere near the starting 11
