The last attacking midfielder we sent to Burton on loan is now pursuing a career as a musician/film maker.

Hopefully this one works out better for Jack.

He didn't particularly flop at Burton. I mean Miller got a serious injury but was beginning to make an impact. He left football out of choice, and is a rich kid who is the son of a director who won an Emmy for his work on Luther and and actress who has been on some sitcoms. He played Oliver Twist before dedicating himself to football, but it wasn't exactly a shock for him to decide to move back towards creative industries.

What are people’s thoughts on Yago de Santiago? I don’t think I’ve heard of him before.

Isn't he that young Spanish lad we signed last year?
Everyone was trying to wonder what was going on while he was announcing it on his social media.
Took a while to find out and this is probably the first I've heard of him since!

Interesting I think I had posted a few times that our weakness was at CB and I wasn't sure what their plan was. I assumed that they would've just given Dorrington game time this year, or even BBW, but they've gone for the singing route, which is fair enough. Hopefully he's a decent player.

Means Lusala goes back out to RB I guess, though I wanted to see him more at CB this year, though there is of course plenty of time for rotation.

Was going to say look forward to seeing him play but we're not allowed.

Also freeeki the signature is great haha

Its an interesting signing if for no other reason than it takes our academy squad up to 26 which is one more than you can register. I presume we'll do as we did the year we signed Pochettino. jnr where we pay a fixed charge/fine to unlock an extra squad spot.

Sounds promising but I do have to question whether moving country at such a young age is good for player development. Bentaleb probably the most successful of our foreign academy players?

A fair question and some don’t, but I think that our club have good ambassadors that will take care of young prospect coming abroad ?

I look at the first team and I think we are crying out for a player like Edwards

All our front players aren't comfortable with the ball at their feet unless they have space to run to and instantly look for someone to pass to as they cant dribble
Bergwijn is capable, we just need to play him rather than Lucas.

FYI, the year that Edwards was in the Netherlands, he and Bergwijn we almost identical dribbles per 90 (Edwards 3.3 vs Bergwijn 3.2). The following season, both played in the Europa League and Bergwijn averaged 2.8 dribbles per 90 Vs Edwards 2. That same season though, Edwards did make more dribbles per 90, in the Portuguese league (3.4) to Bergwijns 2.5 in the Eredivisie, though Bergwijn mostly played as a striker that season, so would have had less opportunity/need to dribble.

Edit: Not saying I would be against bringing him back btw, were we to sell Lucas (which I don't see happening), would be happy to have Edwards replace him.

IMO i think Cirkin and White should stay and train with the 1st team, play some cup games and then get loans in January.
It's likely just to be 1 game though (and its doubtful if that will even go ahead), as I doubt we will beat Chelsea with our 3 game a week schedule and I doubt Jose will play them vs them.

Would rather we loan out White and Cirkin but keep Bowden back as an emergency #6, since we are so thin there. For none holding CMs, we have 6 players (that can play in a 3) in front of White at the moment and, as well as Reguilon & Davies ahead of Cirkin, we have Tanganga that can play there if needed.

Bergwijn strikes me as someone who dribbles in to space and directly at goal whereas Edwards can do it to buy time or create space for others

I like what we're currently doing with White and Cirkin — having them train with the seniors and play for the U23s since they're clearly very talented but still very young [19 and 18 respectively]. I'd imagine that having players of their quality playing in PL2 matches could help raise the levels of others in the development squad. It's also keeping them match fit when they're not getting senior games.

Messi moved to Spain at 14 and it worked out alright :p

No it's extremely hit and miss and depends massively on the player's character and how well he settles, but there are no guarantees in youth football anyway and Estonia isn't exactly known for high quality club football. I wouldn't be surprised if he played with and against better players in our U18s.

While they're not know for great club football something has happened in their youth development for his age group. The 03 and 04s are seemingly being scattered throughout Europe's top clubs and I think one in US. It must be their golden generation, which coincides with them hosting the u17 euros this year. Looks like we've taken our slice of the pie, but chances are this kid ain't coming through here.

'Letting' one of their golden generation go to England isn't a great move on their part

Yes England and golden generation are words that do not mix well.
