Lots to like about that performance. Davies - such a calming influence in the centre of defence.

Reg looks miles better than him at fullback, so would be really handy if he can convert himself into our left sided centre back.

Good run out tonight. Good minutes for the squad players. Europa will be good for that. Lucas and Lamela look very good at this level.

Very promising debut for Vinicius, 2 great assists and could easily have had 2 more.

Good cameo from Dele, worked hard. Good minutes for Bale and an assist of his own. Throwing Son on was almost unfair.

We took off Bale, Hojbjerg and Lamela and brought on Alli, Sissoko and Son not to mention Lo Celso and young Jack Clarke and we left Hugo, Alderwiereld, Ndombele and Kane on the bench.
Christ we've got some squad these days.
And the injured Dier!

An easy win tonight., We did not move out of third gear. Vinicius had a great debut with two assists., great to see Clarke coming on. A clean sheet and three points.

Excellent start just what Jose would want, similar starting XI should be enough for 3 points in Antwerp next week , then more squad rotation , five subs is just ideal for us and other large squads in EL.

Some nice reverse passes on tonight
see the first goal for example
and more one touch and quicker use of the ball.
Sloppy at first but settled nicely and controlled the game well.
Bale got an hour, Harry got a rest and Clarke got a start
Vinicius got two assists, we kept a clean sheet and survived the last eight minutes.
All good.

They were made to look that way.

It’s getting a bit tiresome hearing the “opposition were shit” run out every time we make a team look ordinary.

I believe this lot spanked Sporting 4-1 to make it to the group stage?
Sporting did have a man sent off but I agree with the sentiment

Miles better then him as an attacking full back. Davies is still a better defender at this stage.

Good, professional and all that jazz. I do think we need to learn to take our chances a little bit more, but very happy.

On another note, Foyth made his debut in what seemed a bonkers 5-3 Villarreal win. He scored a wonderful header to put them 3-2 up and then contributed with a fine assist for the final goal. So seemed promising, though can't say much about the defending.

I really like Foyth but the conceding 3 is why we sold him. Maybe not his fault though, haven’t seen it!

I mean Sporting were still losing at that time, and the season prior sporting were beaten 3-0 by LASK. They also beat PSV 4-1 last season too.

I expected more from LASK tbh, last season they were better than the much hyped RB Salzburg, by far, for most of the season, and if it wasn't for a frankly ott 12 point penalty for breaching COVID restrictions, they should have won it. Though they did fall apart a bit after COVID.

He didn't look particularly at fault in the highlights. I think he'll shine there. We haven't sold him btw, we loaned him with option to buy. But if Foyth wants, or villareal don't agree to the fee, he could come back here, no issue.

Felt like we had to play towards Llorente, where as Vinucius can fit into our style of play.
Vinicius has done more in 85 mins than Llorente managed in his whole Spurs career. Even Janssen was better for us because he at least worked hard and put himself about a bit. I'll no doubt get comments and disagrees or bollocks like 'we didn't play to his strengths' but the simple facts are half the time he was never arsed to make the runs and he was never aggressive enough to use his size properly. He had one good half against Ajax and I can't think of any other outstanding performance.

Only game i've seen of Vinicius and we're none the wiser about his finishing but I was very impressed at how keen he was, how he was using his size properly and was constantly making runs. I think we may have finally broken the backup striker curse.

Feel a lot safer with Davies at LCB than I do with Dier. Granted it’s against weaker opposition but Davies is a steady presence when he’s played. Interesting to see what Jose does, as it’s clear Reggie is our best LB by a mile.

He's good on the ball against high pressing sides and his actual defending is often very good there but his height may ultimately hold him back. I think he would be a good option against teams like City who like to keep it on the ground and also put you under pressure when you play it out from the back. Against a Burnley aerial onslaught though, I wouldn't be too sure and i'd probably much rather have Dier's physicality for that one.

?? Llorente had the goal vs MC that advanced us to the CL semis.
