Tons of brights spots today: Lamela, Kane at his very best, Son simply unplayable.

But the most encouraging bit of all was ... Ndombele. What a monster. Strong on the ball, twinkle toes, and sliderule vertical passing. A joy to watch.
Ndom is a special player at his best. He's got a very rare sense of rhythm and timing of passing, very quick and ahead of opposition players, always a millisecond ahead. Some of his actions are pure delight.

Anyone know the attendance tonight. From the TV, it looked like a pretty decent turnout

Great result and it was really nice seeing some of our players smile once again. But let's be honest: Some of the defending for our goals was simply awful. Take a look at the highlights and you'll see what I mean.

Glad for the result, glad for the players and Pochettino that they had a big win - but I'm not at all convinced we are over the hill. Red Star Belgrade was just quite frankly to sh*t to be able to use as a yard stick.

It could be a false dawn or the spring board we need to push on. I genuinely hope we kick on from here, regardless of the result against Pool this weekend I want us to go out with the same intensity and desire the result I couldn’t care less about. The performance is what matters most.

Keep this formation and lineup and we can build from here.

No great questions were answered by any means, but it was just so good seeing the players and the crowds enjoying themselves again, and so important.

A great night had by all.

Any kind of convincing win against any team was what we needed. As fans we just needed to see that the players actually give a shit.

100% agreed, however I'm most impressed with the effort and performance the squad put in last night. The result is just the cherry on top. Hopefully we can see a performance like this against Liverpool even if we end up losing the fixture.

Winks played at the base of midfield in the 4-1 win at Wembley a couple of seasons back. I've been banging the drum for us to buy a top DM for years, and I think we could certainly use one on Sunday, but for me the tactics Poch employs will be even more important. We looked to hit them on the counter in that 4-1 win and that's exactly how we should set up on Sunday. Sit back, keep it tight, and hit them on the counter.

Yet when Man U played them at the weekend they looked most vulnerable when they sat back and attempted that at the end of the game. Liverpool looked uncomfortable when Man U were on the front foot in the first half.

I think we just can’t concede early and should match them up formation wise. 2 v 3 in the middle of the park will be a mistake and so will the diamond (as we saw at Wembley last year where we just kept on giving them the ball because we were outnumbered in there).

I see a lot of posts proposing that Pochettino should pick the same side against Liverpool. Surely everyone should realise, without having to think, that there is absolutely zero chance of that.

He will rotate at least 3-5 players.
I disagree, unless any of the players who played last night picked up knocks which mean they aren’t ready to start, no way is he changing 5 of that team. If he does and we lose badly he deserves all the flak that comes his way, I know the opposition were poor and Liverpool will represent a challenge that is a massive step up, but I’ve not seen fluidity in movement and quick passing and a sense of being up for it like that for almost the entire season so far. No way is he seriously disrupting that, if there are changes I see maybe 2 changes at most. It would be interesting to know which of the 3 to 5 you think he’s going to change after a performance like that if none of the players are injured and they are all fit to play.

Agree entirely, especially with playing Sunday the players should be rested enough.

Son goals were outstanding and his energy to that's why I said at the time I'm surprised he didn't start the game against Wolves last week. That energy was what was needed then and it's what we want on Sunday but I'm not convinced Poch will start him.
I was beginning to have my doubts about N'Dombele I hadn't seen anything that told me he was anything special but I thought he was excellent last night.
I was surprised Poch didn't take Kane off after the 4th goal ready for Sunday. It seemed the logical thing to do in case he got an injury we weren't going to lose the game.
A great result against a very poor side but the real test is Sunday if we can start the way we did last night we have a chance of getting something out of the game even if it's only our self respect back as a team.

Definitely agree with this, but I don't think anyone should get their hopes up too much for Liverpool. We played with freedom and enjoyment, but we were still lax with our passing, and we stepped right off the gas from the 35th minute, nearly letting them back into it.

But absolutely encouraging, and at least Liverpool is a free hit now.
