Same team vs Liverpool please.
They all earned their spot. Nothing more nothing less.

had the same thought but worried about whether Lamela would be able to play 2 games in such a short time....I think the answer will be no based on the need to manage him. Also wonder whether Dele will be able to play 3 games in 8 days with his hamstrings. Might be mis-remembering but think @Hercules may have suggested that is a real worry at the moment.

That could be part of our prob at the moment but tonight was a good night for the club

If we play that formation and the majority of those players who started tonight, and actually train all week to do so I think we'll give them a game. If Poch has another Einstein moment on how he can change things around in some kind of tactical masterclass we are fucked.

As I've said many times now the players biggest issue has been the change of system they don't think works and being asked to play roles they are not comfortable playing.

This is something he should build on, keep it to a system the players are comfortable with and understand. It will be far easier if we do.
Thanks for enlightening us. A lot of the press and fans feel that the players aren't engaging as they are too used to the same methods or formations and thus Pochs message is diluted. Surprised to see that this is the opposite and they want to get back to old ways!.

I see a lot of posts proposing that Pochettino should pick the same side against Liverpool. Surely everyone should realise, without having to think, that there is absolutely zero chance of that.

He will rotate at least 3-5 players.
agree with you - his hand will be forced on Lamela and probably Alli.
May see Aurier for Foyth....

Well, that was better - and what an absolute joy to see vertical passing in the final third. I'd almost forgotten what that looks like.

I thought our press was weak and we gave them far too much space in midfield and, particularly, around the edge of our box; and the defence was again caught ball-watching a few times. But it's something to build on.

Several played very well, but a special mention for Kane. His movement, linking of play, creativity and - of course - finishing were all superb. There are very, very few players who would have even thought to shoot in the way that he scored his second. What a player.

Could not agree more. His second goal was outrageous peice of finishing. His brain works like a supercomputer in tight situations when he's up for it. Some passing too.

We did great tonight but we need to start with a defensive midfielder on Sunday. We can get away without one against teams like Red Star at home but not a team like Liverpool.

?

By the end Spurs had thrashed a team that came looking for a thrashing. But there was more to them here. For a start, the team selection. Perhaps Pochettino has been watching New Zealand at the Rugby World Cup. Out of choice or necessity he seemed to have introduced his own No Dickheads rule here, dropping from the XI those players who have gummed the works or whined publicly about their own prospects.

The difference was the desire to run, to press, to push them back with aggression. The hunger was back and it was the most pleasing to see. Note the difference in Kane's work rate in comparison with Watford. I think it was the most important ingredient recently missing in the team.

can they do it again though or just sporadically when they feel like it?

First game at the Lane for me this season. Result made up for having to stand next to @Stoof for 90 minutes.
Same team again forevermore please. Oosh.

Just back from the game and really pleased with the performance and result. Probably the best 90 minutes we’ve played all season.

Far too early and against the wrong opposistion to tell if Poch has started to turn things around, Liverpool will tell us a lot more in this regard, but for me there were plenty of positive signs in tonight’s performance. We played some good, attacking football, our movement off the ball was infinitely better than in previous games and probably more important than anything, I saw 11 players not only play as a team, but play with a hunger and desire that has been sorely missing for most of the season.

They certainly can if they get their appetite back, it comes with the new food. You tend to get bored with the same old diet. I think it's down to the coaching staff to bring variety to the menu. In EPL the teams have learnt inside out the way we play. There must be some new elements in the game to surprise the rivals. Poch and his staff need to reinvent themselves.

Winks played at the base of midfield in the 4-1 win at Wembley a couple of seasons back. I've been banging the drum for us to buy a top DM for years, and I think we could certainly use one on Sunday, but for me the tactics Poch employs will be even more important. We looked to hit them on the counter in that 4-1 win and that's exactly how we should set up on Sunday. Sit back, keep it tight, and hit them on the counter.

Tons of brights spots today: Lamela, Kane at his very best, Son simply unplayable.

But the most encouraging bit of all was ... Ndombele. What a monster. Strong on the ball, twinkle toes, and sliderule vertical passing. A joy to watch.
