Well, we had our fantastic league season in 2016/17, and we had a cup run that took us to the CL final last year, and we're still potless since 2008. We got "as good as it gets" and we still don't have anything to show for it.

I'm in my mid-30s, and as of tonight I now know with absolute certainty that in my lifetime - however long/short that is - I will never see Tottenham Hotspur lift one of the two 'big' prizes in club football.

I am SO jealous of my dad who at least saw us win the League the one time when he was a youngster in the 60s.

What makes you say that? And did you see them out there tonight? And how is their current and future value relative to Poch's? And what would that do for player power? Seems a bad precedent.
Sorry why do we want them to sign new deals?? It's time to move on and build a new back four.

Poch is deflecting our collapse he thinks its just a case of 'they scored with every shot' this tells me that things wont get any better
To be fair, 7 goals on 2.1 xG is outrageous. Their finishing tonight was as clinical as you will ever see. Doesn't mean there aren't massive, massive problems at the club at the moment, but their finishing was genuinely as good as it gets.

Excuse the rant, I've had a couple...

Look, the scoreline was bad, really bad, especially as an ex-Gooner got 4 but they sold him for £5m which probably long term hurts them more than us.

Would you rather your side once getting back to 2-4 went for it or went for damage limitation, we went for it and got spanked by some truly quality finishing. I'm on the side of 0 points is still 0 points losing 2-4 or 2-7, GD makes less of a difference in these mini-league group games (although that may come back to bite me).

I want Aurier out of my club, his attitude stinks and he's a limited footballer.

I really think we need to go back to Dier protecting the backline, yes, he has a mistake in him and yes he's not got the something special but he does a job and with two of Winks/Sissoko/Ndombele either side of him, there's a simple ball for Dier to play and any of the 3 can perform the driving Dembele role of a couple of seasons ago, the last time our midfield really purred and dominated games.

Eriksen, Toby and Jan...that needs sorting, either sign a new contract or bye-bye. It's time for some difficult decisions by the higher-ups, Poch and the players, you're either with us or your training alone. This halfway house with some looking at the big payday/Bosman free transfer is hurting us. Poch was ruthless before and he needs to be again, although short term that will hurt.

I normally stay out of the match thread, I find it knee jerky and from minute to minute someone is either the worst player to play for Tottenham or straight males are offering to have players babies, it's weird.

I haven't read the thread, so apols for jumping in with my opinion which may be wrong, it's football, I've had a couple and we actually gave Bayern a very good game apart from the last half hour.

Anyway, bring on Red Star...6 points from the next 2 and everything looks a lot better

Its not about laying into them, its about him realising we collapsed & our mentality needs to be worked out, anything positive from him going forward instead of just brushing it off as a one off cause clearly this season hasn't gone well let alone this game
Well that’s what he said on TV it doesn’t mean what he said on TV is what he’s actually thinking

I'm not even mad, I was in awe of Bayern, that's from a manager who has been up against it also. Superb from them, I was watching them at 4-2 just closed the game and it was incredible, we didn't have a hope and unfortunately we doubled down on our naivety by going gung-ho when the legs were gone vs a brilliant side and they said thanks very much.

Nope! We couldn't be bothered!

Everyone says Poch is a brilliant coach and makes players perform to a high level, but it’s evident that he’s not as good as everyone thinks. Niko Kovac has managed to coach a giant European team filled with big personalities and make them perform like they did today, yet Poch can’t coach our players to even pass to each other.

The only thing I blame Poch for is the diamond. The fact that Rose, Verts, Toby, Aurier and Eriksen most likely won't be here next season is not his fault.

How can you be so sure? Isn't his job motivating and keeping the players together? If they were happy, why would they leave? And if they're unhappy, why are they unhappy?

Personally I don’t think Jan and Toby (one goal aside) did that much wrong tonight. They were badly let down by our dreadful fullbacks and invisible holding midfielder.

In terms of their contractual situations...Toby very evidently wants to stay. If you do go to games, you’d notice he’s often the last to head back to the dressing room after applauding the fans...and Jan needs no explaining. Poch must have a VERY good reason to put him on his shit list.

If there is anything to be positive about right now, it's that we won't have to spend energy and risk additional injuries in any tournaments outside the league next spring. Hopefully that will be enough to hold on to a top four position. I don't think we can really dream about any more than that.

And maybe for Christmas we'll get a new Head Coach, a DM and a handful of defenders.....

@cooperfield and anyone else WTFing my Kane post. What part of his game has improved since he beat Salah to the golden boot? More goals? No. More assissts? No? Headed goals? Don't make me laugh. CL goals? No. When was he pivotal to a crucial win? He has stagnated. It's plain as day. Denial is a bitch though.
