UEFA's latest coefficient rankings have been released ahead of the new Champions League campaign.

And it is good news if you're a Tottenham fan.

Tottenham Hotspur have moved from 17th last season to 12th after their appearance in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

How the hell do they come up with these ??? Man U and Arsenal have been no where near us for 2 years. And Real Madrid number 1 - that's a joke.

The coefficients are calculated over a 5 or 6 year period and include Europa League. Hence Real (3 UCL wins) are first, Man Utd (EL win) and Arsenal (EL final) got good points recently

Goons haven't qualified for ages so their ranking doesn't matter that much

And yet RM are in pot 2.
On current form, that is fair enough, but they can't then rank them #1.

But pot 1 is only for league or CL/EL winners

Technically we're in the highest seeding pot we can be in having not won the prem or cl final (y)

It's right that it runs over a 5 year period. Rewards consistency rather than blips.

Stats are for Americans anyway - no-one in the UK gave a crap about stats other than goals, wins, draws and losses until the Premier League was born and Sky became the default medium, adopting the 24 hour news ticker style of Sports channel which, inevitably, would need padding with pointless faff.

Stats.

Months and miles and fortnights and acres and hours and heartbeats and steps and passes and second passes and assists and pre-assists and inside leg measurement and favorite James Cameron Film and what they had for breakfast and if they scrunch or fold and temperature of their warm milk before bedtime in every time zone...

I honestly couldn't give more than 0.4% of a crap (mainly because that's the average amount of craps given per basketball courts at the speed of chewing a twinkie on a greyhound bus).

Europa League and CL get the same points for winning a game. So arsenal would have got about the same as us last year.... madness
