There's enough quality in that front 3 that we don't need all 3 to give 9/10's every game.

The primary positive impact with this line up in my opinion is that they're all big game players. That will be so useful against the top 6 where we normally struggle.

Its such a good front 3. Best in the league, IMO. Should be enough for top 4. Think we’d be a top CB away from an XI that could challenge for the league.

As I said in the Bale thread days ago.

I like SoniKBoom

Our attacks will be swift & deadly.
Defenses won't know what hit them until well after the fact.

sonic boom def: a loud explosive noise caused by the shock wave of an aircraft travelling faster than the speed of sound.

I remember a few threads knocking about asking what our best XI is for the past decade/premier league era etc and almost unanimously it was this forward line. We now have it.

OMFG I am so excited you guys!

ahhhhh

The worry is will we be able to get the ball into this front line, this has been an issue for us for some time. What I like though is getting Kane into deeper positions and playing in Bale and Son could work a charm. Maybe Kane is our Eriksen replacement. Play 4-3-3 with Kane dropping off to make a 4-3-1-2 at times and it could be a frightening proposition.

I'm going to piss on everyone's chips here and say that I don't think we will see it as often as we'd like unless;

a) One of Bale or Son become very good defensively
b) We get a new central midfielder and CB who can command things

I don't think we can afford to play the pair sitting high up like that unless our defending improves massively. Today Winks, Dier, Hojbjerg and Sanchez consistently failed to manage the strikers dropping deep and the overloads on our flank.
There are concerns but Southampton are a very unique team in the league, and first half we suffered, second we looked much better in part because we all played a little deeper. Defence has generally been very solid since lockdown, and against Everton as well, our problems are mostly in transition these days.

Bale and Son in this team still need to do a shift, but that's not the same as 'being good defensively'. Also, it's worth pointing out that Bale used to work very hard defensively for us originally, though I suspect his legs aren't in it anymore. In Madrid not so much but this was almost certainly in part tactical.

I'm not that clued up but do you think with kane playing that bit deeper we may end up with a system like Liverpools front three?

If all 3 get firing it should be an absolutely lethal front three. If we can get a VVD type defender, we should be right up there.

SKB, I am sure there is a linkage there somewhere.
