In the space of 12 months we added Kanoute, Defoe and Carrick from recently relegated West Ham. All three were huge upgrades on what we already had, and the latter two were integral in taking us from mid table to 5th.

Yes we went through this. They added two main players from relegation sides.

the poster originally wanted 3 from one team that’s been atrocious.
We’ve been atrocious this year but still have very good players. The PL is at the level where you can have some quality players but still be at the bottom of the league if you don’t have the right structure, organisation and, most importantly of all, belief in what you’re doing as a team.

I reckon this side, with a good manager, would as good as Wolves:

Fabianski
Aarons Mings Ake Lewis
Rice Grealish
Cantwell Buendia Brooks
Wilson

It doesn't really matter whether you buy from relegated team or champion team. It matters whether the player fulfills a role that the team needs. Both Trippier, Davies fulfilled their role of second choice fullbacks( We sold trips for 20m after buying him for 3m), we bought Alli from championship club , so it doesn't really matter. We bought Aurier and Moura from PSG who were champion in their league. In long run, did these two players really improve us?

Swap Godfrey in for Mings (or for Lewis and put Ake at left back), and Fraser for Cantwell (I like Cantwell but Fraser has achieved far more at this point) and you’ve got a really good side there.

I think Cantwell is a much better player than Fraser, albeit raw. He’s also got a little bit of nastiness in him which I like. There’s a reason Liverpool are interested reportedly.

I would certainly think except goalkeeper, lot of these players would suddenly improve Spurs ...

Fabianski would be better than Gazzaniga imo.

Grealish would be a good purchse and would probably work out if Jose continues to play with this system. Would also solve the dead ball issue we have. Billing from Bournemouth could fill in at DM should we need. I wouldn't take any of the CB's on atm as I think we need a real leader back there right now. Wilson or King from Bournemouth would be great too.

As this is a thread for folk to suggest players and it's just a suggestion after all - while the fullback debate rages on I'd take a look at Dion Sanderson On loan at Cardiff from Wolves. Based on the players we've been linked with (outside of Max Aarons) all of the fullbacks we have been linked with have been tall and physical. Think Sanderson meets this and looks like a fine defender - something many have complained about when it comes to our right back situation this season.

Like I said, just a suggestion.

Think Cardiff play today live on Sky if anyone is bored and he is starting (he has played every game for Cardiff since the restart)

Lamptey and Aarons both playing. Another chance to watch Aarons and Lamptey has been impressive recently.

Hard to find a positive ...
Lamptey looks the most threatening going forwards.
He’s the least available of the four.
Not sure if Mazraoui at Ajax or Zeki Celik at Lille have been mentioned?

Why woud Partey take a step down from an established CL team to one in dissarray?

the same reason Man City and Chelsea bought world class players when they finished outside the champions league places. We’ve proved it doesn’t matter if we’re in the champions league or not.

Teams that have a recent history of winning or building title challenging sides as well as offering obscene wages. What we have proved is that having CL on it's own is not enough to attract an elitel talent with a certain status. We've never poached an established player from a title challenging side.

Alternatively, Bogle playing on Sky right now
Oh, Matty Cash, too.
Bogle was decent in spells and a bit slap-dash at other points - the game was quite slow so difficult to judge - and Bogle wasn't pressed by Forest very much. Whipped in a few good balls and looked good going forwards albeit with the odd ball sailing over the pitch to the opposite corner flag. I think there's a player there but I wouldn't say on this showing he looked prem-ready. Maybe we'd see more in a faster game.

Didn't see much of matty cash although he did take a set piece very well which I think tested the keeper.

That’s what I’m saying so it doesn’t matter if we’re in disarray or riding high in the league and champions league. You need to pay the money. Man City were attracting players before CL and before they won anything because they put the money down. anyway there is no direct correlation between spending and winning as we know.

One player I think is developing very well at CB is Mason Holgate at Everton
Good pace, excellent passer and appears to be a good leader.
Shame that Everton are aware of this, and unlikely to sell anytime soon

I think Tanganga will progress in similar way. Holgate was hit and miss as a right back and then centre back but was allowed to make mistakes are learn.

Shows how important it is to give young players time if the talent is there.

Not sure our fans are quite as patient as Everton though.

Yes, broke into the team at Rb, then went on loan to West Brom last season. Seems to have come back as a confident and mature defender. Says everything about what must happen with Foyth (and Tanganga) next season
