With this squad has to be top four and a trophy (although you need some luck as well). I think 3rd + either the FA Cup or Europa League.

5th (or even lower) and no silverware would raise some serious questions.

Much more optimistic now.

This season is absolutely batshit crazy so far though so predictions seem to be mostly useless.

I refused to post in here until after the window closed, and I feel vindicated. Top four and at least one trophy. And wierdly, I worry more about Everton and Arsenal than Chelsea or MU (ok, the latter is kind of obvious at this point).

Don’t look at me. I’m irrelevant.

Agree, I think Arsenal are going under the radar and have a steeliness about them now, even more so with Partey.

A trophy and top 4 finish this year ! Small tweaks to the squad next summer and a title charge in Jose’s 2nd full season

There's absolutely no reason to believe we can't make a title charge at this point of the season. We're 2-0 against big 6 sides this season in all competitions and we just handed Manchester United their joint-largest defeat in their club's history for Christ's sake. Not to mention in the same day title favorites Liverpool got smacked by 1 point relegation survivor Aston Villa 7-2.

We've been close many times in the last 5 seasons, and this is looking like our best squad yet. Ye of little faith.

If we can stay injury free i really think we have a shot at the title, Liverpool seem to be getting found out a bit (conceding 10 goals against Villa and Leeds), our squad is strong as hell and there seems to be a great team spirit, add to that Tanguy is starting to look like the player we hoped we'd signed last season and if Dele can knuckle down and get back to his form from a couple of seasons ago then we are absolutely cooking. Think we will definitely win a trophy this season.

More optimistic about this season now after the window. Both with the players we added and just as much the players we have kept. We now have a quality squad which in time we will see how the manager adapts his tactics for. So top 4 (previously top 8) seems likely with the possibility of challenging again for the title. Will we win anything? Not sure as there are only a few trophies and a number of good teams however we are better equipped and balanced to sustain challenges.

Basically certain that we will win the World Cup of soccerball. We have the best quarterback and wide receivers at our franchise. Whoop whoop, USA. USA. USA.

Think we will come third actually. Win the league Cup.

Before we signed Bale I was thinking we’d get top 4. But since then, I do wonder if our players have thought more is possible. I really think that our uptick in form and him signing isn’t a coincidence. The next step is getting him in the team. If he clicks with everyone else our attack is going to be unstoppable. Imagine being in that opposition dressing room when our team sheet is read out and it contains Son, Kane and Bale. Not many teams are going to look forward to lining up against that.

Would you like to reconsider?

And those that agreed?
Easy scoring with 20/20 hindsight.
We have now invested seriously (and creatively) in the squad after a long period of just treading water. We've refreshed a stale squad and thereby completely changed the atmosphere and vibe surrounding the club. Gloom has made way for optimism.

Of course I've reconsidered my forecast. Top 4 is the goal and hopefully a trophy as well. At the time of writing that post however (13 sept - well before the arrival of Bale and Reguilón), nothing like that seemed in the offing... So glad things have changed! :)

Massive meltdowns, ENIC out, over the top vitriol aimed at the players and anyone not agreeing with you, bickering and abuse, Mourinho's is a ****, parking the bus, followed by periods of euphoria, over the top praising of the players, Mourinho is a god, cartwheels, ENIC in, moving the bus, bouncy castles and cake............This cycle will repeat several times

This ought to be in the OP of each seasons thread :D

I think our strength in depth suggests we should be aiming to win everything. For the first time that I remember, one bad injury will not necessarily lead to a slump in results as we have quality replacements in all positions. Our bench is also much stronger than it used to be. I think we should be aiming at a minimum top 3 and a Cup.

Top 4 get back in champions league.

Hopefully we have the mentality to push for a trophy this year. It will be tough, always is, but in Son, Kane and Bale we have 3 game changers. Additions have added balance to our squad and Ndombele is like a new signing.

It is looking a lot more positive this season than it did after Everton.
