Sissoko hitting the ball out for a corner from near the half way line summed up that performance

After the way they played vs west ham and United, I'm fairly confident this was just a strange blip. No way this happens next match.

I thought we were pretty decent first half, just couldn't make it happen. Bergwijn was.decent. The disallowed goal.was bizarre and there was some terrible onfield decisions by the ref which didnt help. United were committing fouls all over the pitch, most notably on Moura who, in the first half, they had no clue how to handle. He drew 3 players and lots of well positioned free kicks. Disappeared 2nd.

Second half was abstract. Must be a mentality issue?

If it's this awful again then JM may as well pack his bags. Because the issues run much deeper than any coach can solve without a massive wedge of dosh. But I'm sure this was a bump.in a long road.

Bergwijn should have stayed on...son has been poor since the restart, back 3 seems the way forward to me with the potential midfield we could have....
Whole team needs to play much quicker and Ndombele needs more minutes! Would like to see GLC further forward where he can do more damage, and do not understand where dele fits in any more....
VAR was beyond a joke tonight and ref bottled many fouls, Aurier still giving away a goal pretty much every game and unfortunately Davies does not offer enough going forward
Unfortunately JM not got enough about him to make wholesale changes....
So disappointed ☹️

Players switched off for the second and third goal (not tracking runs) it's a mental thing I think.
Our goal was beauty though and something Sheffield wont be capable of; Son's run was perfectly timed and the cushioned cross was good too. Overall I dont think we created enough chances to deserve to win, but the quality is evident.
In defence of Moura I agree that he doesn't make great decisions and can't spot a pass, but he offers a combo of other things that no one else in the team has: direct running, willingness to take on players, and high work rate. He doesn't hide. Defenders can't relax against him. I take him over Dele in current form.

That 2nd goal epitomised the utter nonsense of our game.

That clumsy looking midfielder of theirs was allowed to twist and turn in slow motion in the middle of the park without any real attempt by us to take the ball from him. He then easily found a teammate on the left flank, then passed to another teammate who Sissoko had decided he didnt want to chase anymore. This player then tried his luck in crossing low into the box, then Dier and Sachez did their best attempt at bird-watching.

Utter bollox. Sheer stupidity

Was Aurier with the cigar on the go for the 2nd goal down their left, TWICE!

I picked Dier. He was pretty dominant in the air, winning the first balls and generally saw lots of the ball.
JM seems to fancy him as a deep play maker, and he pivots the play one and the other, without just lumping it up field, which Jan has resorted to this season. That is a breath of fresh air.
But without anyone showing for him in midfield (like dembele, or eriksen used to) sideways are his only options.
And his passing range and vision are limited - he will not find any AM unless they drop deep.
That was meant to be the positives!

Negatives are he is the senior defender and a leader and we let in 3! He looked very much to blame for the second, but with zonal marking maybe it isn't straightforward and JM would surely have subbed him if he was at fault for this killer goal. Instead the FBs got hooked.
Also we don't create anything as we are slow to get forward and the man repeatedly with the ball is Dier. GLC has got to show for him every time. Dier has to get this guy more involved - shout at him and do that pointing thing he usually does so well.

Three soft goals all with a similar feel about them, slack tracking and poor awareness. he lack of consistency among this group of players is frightening, Sissoko solid last week is totally switched off this week, Son may as well not track back if that is how you’re going to defend when you get there, Dier starting to come good but zero awareness of the opposition, Aurier what can you say.

Positives, Kane did well and absolute scandal the first goal was ruled out and Bergwijn continues to look a quality footballer.

Apart from the almost comical defending, just not getting enough out of Son and Moura.

Different opinions in here I note . For me the slagging of Moura and not of Son is pretty strange . Sonny an old fave I assume . At least Moura was involved in the match , trying things..dribbles and shots , Sonny just wasn't interested . Moura tired 2nd half so let the defence down, true.
Also Bergwijn is picking up undeserved brownie points for some reason ,he really isn't the stellar attacker that people think, didn't take any defenders on...what can people be seeing ? . Son was a passenger tho . His feeble attempts to get to passes vs any defender is starting to grate . To top it off Kane's touch was a bit off .

We've never liked teams that get right in our faces . It was just a couple of great years where things changed and we were in other team's faces .

Thought the commentator's points about defenders simply ball watching so leaving Sheff Utd forwards unmarked for their goals was well made . Basic stuff , how can we be so poor ?

Lloris - 6 - might be harsh seeing as he had zero protection.
Aurier - 4 - crap defending, crap attacking
Sanchez - 4 - totally unaware.
Dier - 4 - I had such high hopes but that was abysmal.
Davies - 5 - Poor
Sissoko - 4 - training cone
Lo Celso - 6 - worst game so far
Moura - 3 - not a player suited to playing in tight central areas.
Son - 5 - struggled
Bergwijn - 6 - looked quite good 1st half
Kane - 6 - zero service, had three goals disallowed, scored, but did a lot less in terms of effort / holding up the ball / linking play than their championship strikers

The more I watch Lucas’ run to block Lamela’s pass to Kane, the more baffling it becomes:

im glad somebody else has highlighted that as I was so angry at him at the time. Shows how unintelligent of a footballer he really is.

Moura must be such a frustrating team-mate to play with. Really doesn't link up well with anyone and is a real head down player.

Tries hard and is always positive but is yet another one of our players that surrenders possession too easily.

Dele, Aurier, Lamela, Son, Moura and Sissoko are all guilty of poor decision making which means that we are always on the back foot and players are constantly caught out of position.

Sissoko hitting the ball out for a corner from near the half way line summed up that performance
Cut him some slack, he was trying to prevent the throw-in on the half way line. Obviously knocking it out for a corner was the safe option.

I sort of see what he's trying to do. Had Lamela released the ball when Lucas ran in front of him it would have opened them up pretty well. Problem is the ball to Kane that he blocked off was a better pass.

Lamela of course just clings onto the ball without making ANY decision. Exactly what he does almost every single time. There are 3-4 possibilities and he can't decide what to do so just runs with the ball into a group of Sheffield players.

So in other words both are totally braindead.
