Friedel : 8 - Only good performance, saved us a few times

Vertonghen: 5 - Early days but he really struggles with long balls

Gallas: 5 - Poor

Walker: 5 - Poor

Assou-Ekotto: 5 - I think he is really overrated by some Spurs fans. He can be good and his attacking play is usually solid but his positioning is awful and he lacks the concentration of top defenders and has some crazy moments every game.

Lennon: 6 - Average but better than some others

Bale: 5 - Poor

Sigurdsson: 5 - Poor

Livermore: 4 - The less said the better

Sandro: 4.5 -Not much better than Livermore in the first half

Defoe: 4 - He simply can't play as a lone striker. Playing him in that system was criminal

Subs:
Adebayor: 5
Dembele: 7 - Great goal

Brad-9 MOM
Kyle-5
Gallas-5
Jan-6.5 shows great composure on the ball
BAE- 5.5 got forward but shaky
Lennon-5 one dimensional (when isn't he)
Bale-5.5 tried to be a creative force at times but needs to stick to his strengths
Siggs- 4 barely saw him
Sandro 5 needs to find his mojo and quick
Jake-3 pathetic
Defoe- N/A would rather have my little pony

Ade- 5.5 out of shape but gets people involved
Dembele-7.5 the shining light. Composed and will come good.

Friedel 7 - Couple of decent saves. Couldn't have done that much about their goal.

Walker 4 - Poor all round
Gallas 5 - ok
Vertonghen 5 - Still settling in
Ekotto 5 - ok

Lennon 5 - average
Livermore 4 - Suprised he wasn't taken off instead of Sandro
Sandro 5 - Probably his worst performance in a Spurs shirt! But unlucky to go off at HT
Bale 6- Tried harder than the others

Glyfi 5 - Decent shot in the first half, but poor otherwise.
Defoe 4 - Couldn't hold the ball, shouldn't be player as a lone striker especially at home.

SUBS
Dembele 7 - Great goal. Very exited with this signing
Adebayor 5 - Didn't do much!
Hudd 5 - Unlucky to get sent-off. Btw did anybody else think he looked a bit chunky?

Dembele and Friedel the only ones who looked like they wanted it.

Shambolic from Bale, Lennon, Walker etc.

And fucking ridiculous from Livermore, Defoe and AVB.

Head can't wrap around that starting line up and I thought 'Arry was bad putting on Parker when we needed to score last season...no, that's still worse, but the fact it's even close and we're only on game 3 is worrying enough.

edit: one more thing re: Defoe, weak as a baby, falls down at every opportunity. WHY IS HE LEADING THE LINE?

Friedel : 9 - Incredible today

Vertonghen: 5 - Not convincing

Gallas: 5 - Poor

Walker: 5 - Poor

Assou-Ekotto: 5 - Not at his best so far this season

Lennon: 5 - Did nothing but waste crossing chances.

Bale: 3 - Dire

Sigurdsson: 3 - Dire, but I don't blame him. I blame the people who brought him in. Not good enough.

Livermore: 3 - Hopeless.

Sandro: 5 - Not at his best, but why was he taken off?

Defoe: 4 - Can't play on his own.

Subs:
Adebayor: 5 - Off the pace after his three month holiday.
Dembele: 7 - Injected some passing into our midfield and scored a great goal. But not the definite answer to our problems in midfield. Him, Sandro/Parker next to a creative midfielder would've been good.

Hudd 1 - Stupid sending off, although Howson was no better in that challenge.

Dempseys not a really a right winger though??

In a 4231 or a 443 he can certainly play on the right.

A change is good as the rest.

And certainly Lennon needs a right royal kick up the ass - as does Bale.

I was certainly hoping for some real quality pacy competition in the wide areas to be brought in - and AGAIN i'm left disappointed.

Well....we can safely say the honeymoon period is well and truly over for AVB. Even pre-game there was already an uneasy atmosphere at the ground following this windows shenanigans and our last two performances. This was compounded by the team delivering a totally abject first half performance bereft of any sort of creativity, discipline or pace. We continually slowed the play down, held on to the ball too long and even when we did release it our movement was diabolical. Second half was a slight improvement with Mousa looking sharp but we were sent back to the Jol days agin with panic defending from set pieces and a consistent late goal scenario.

Starting with a 4-3-3 formation like this it is essential that your forward three are intelligent, creative players able to interchange, make ghost runs, draw defenders in and pass to each other regularly. You really have to wonder whether with these players that 4-3-3 is going to be possible. It certainly doesn’t look like it. I have more intelligence in my bell end than Bale, Defoe and Lennon combined.

Looking around the team prior to Dembele coming on there was only really Vertonghen and Benny who you would actually class as proper footballers, little wonder we couldn’t retain possession. A midfield three of Sigurdsson, Sandro and Livermore was poor, very fucking poor. Jesus, them three make Scotty Parker look like Hoddle. It really highlighted how big a miss Moutinho was. A massive fucking miss. We’ve completely lost our glue in Central Midfield and it hasn’t been replaced.

Gallas and Vertonghen’s partnership looks slow, cumbersome and weak. Caulker needs to come in for the next game.

Friedel – 8 -won us a point with numerous smart saves. Question marks again for the goal though, completely unwilling to come and deal with anything. Harsh? Maybe.
Walker – 5 – Poor. Didn’t offer anything going forward and when he did he chose the wrong option.
Benny – 7 – Thought he was decent. Wish he’d grabbed the ball off Defoe for a couple of cherry ripe free kicks. One of few intelligent players. Wish he’d bust a gut and get more involved further up the field.
Vertonghen/Gallas – 5 – Weak. Both looked suspect, they’ve been bullied two weeks on the bounce now. On top of that they’re both getting done by quick feet. We really need a Caulker/Dawson type when we’re up against bullies like Holt/Lukaku. Wakey wakey AVB.
Lennon – 5 – Minimal involvement. He really needs to pull his finger out when we’re in possession and he doesn’t have the ball. Should be screaming for the ball, making runs, drawing defenders in. Don’t just stand fucking still.

Bale – 5 – Hmmm. I’m not sure whether its Bale or the system thats not working. Just simply isnt involved enough, flits out of games for long periods. Another who shoots at all times even when its not the best option.
Livermore – 2 – Really guff. All game. Hate to see scapegoats being made but this lad just doesn’t really do anything. People compare him to Jenas but thats rich. Jenas has pace, scores the odd goal and can tackle. Livermore does nothing. Apart from give stupid free kicks away and waste possession.
Sandro – 5 – Poor first half by his high standards. Stunning that AVB brouhgt him off again ahead of Ploddermore. Totally nonsensical.
Sigurdsson – 5 – Another ho hum game for our VdV replacement. He isn’t as good on the ball as i thought he would be. Can’t see him playing much when Dempsey’s available.
Defoe – 3 – Really, really awful turn from Defoe. Lost the ball continually, usual shoot at all sight selfishness and provided zero outlet and link up play. A bench player is all he should ever be I’m afraid.

Dembele – 7 – Immediately came on and starting demanding the ball, scored a beauty and looks promising. Makes me sad to think how good we could have been with him and VdV playing together or Moutinho.
Huddlestone – 1 – Got sent off straight away for a rash lunge. Merited or not it was a needless tackle to make. Won’t get match fit while you’re suspended, son.
Adebayor – 6 – Still off the pace but just his movement was a refeshing change. His touch will laways be suspect but he’s a proper team player. Makes runs to draw defenders away and plays with his head up. Shame Defoe doesn’t feel the need.

AVB – He needs to drop the Livermore/Sandro partnership for these games. So turgid. I don’t think we have the players he needs to play his preferred system and I’m not convinced the new buys fit into it either. None the less, he needs to change his ways and quickly. This could get pretty bad for AVB quickly with the atmosphere today, added to the fact he seems to picking the wrong players already. .

Fans – 0 – Booooooooooooo

A depressing day. This international break couldnt have come at a better time for us.

Why the fuck do players that played like shit get rating 3 and 4?
Jake for one did nothing good the whole game and deserve a 1. Hudd was even worse; red card, didnt mark his man etch yet given a 4. Is that like the lowest rating, since in my book thats a 1.

Dembele was good, Friedel great, everyone else poor to average.

Lloris is not going to find it easy to oust Friedel. I hope like a lot of foreign keepers he doesn't struggle with communication/commanding his box and crosses.

Not gonna rate the whole team as no one got above average. Only want to highlight one and that's Sigurdsson I don't get the fuss over this bloke, seems as if he's come in and taken the Rafa role and I'm not sure why. He is very very average, why was he on loan at Swansea, why wasn't he so key to Hoffenheim that they wouldn't let him leave for 15m let alone on loan? He has very little influence on the overall game, he almost needs to be considered as a striker when determining how successful he is (much like fat frank lampard) therefore 1 goal in 3 would seem to be a minumum for me, he's not gonna get that. No wonder Dempsey was so keen to join.

That was shocking!
If we had been playing United or City,we would have taken a real hammering.
From the very first minute we looked absolutely awful and we kept hoofing high balls up to Defoe.
The team to me looked like one that had been over-coached and been given far too much tactical data to the point were they could not function.
A bit like someone learning to play golf and having a ton of information in their heads when they are trying to swing.
It's impossible.

AVB said when he arrived that he had learned lessons at Chelsea.................he is talking out of his arse!

I would also like to add that had we got Moutinho we might have been alright because he is a playmaker.
Now we look like a boat without a sail and we are most definitely heading into stormy waters.

That few pounds extra that Levy wouldn't stomp up for Moutinho is going to come back and bite him in the arse BIGTIME!

Friedel - 7.5
Walker - 4
Gallas - 6
Vertonghen - 6
BAE - 6
Sandro - 6
Livermore - 5
Sigurdsson - 5
Lennon - 4
Bale - 5
Defoe - 4

Dembele - 7
Adebayor- 6
Hudd - 4

Er, how on earth can you give Hudd 4?

I think that he completed 2 passes (give him 2), had one shot (an extra mark) but was playing statues for the Norwich goal (-1) and got sent off for a two-footed challenge (-2). I make that 0. To give him the same rating as Defoe and Lennon is ludicrous.

Sandro was poor for the second week running and deserved to be subbed. We badly miss Parker's leadership on the pitch.

Friedel - 8
Walker - 4
Gallas - 6
Vertonghen - 6
BAE - 6
Sandro - 4
Livermore - 4
Sigurdsson - 5 at least he tried to find space which is more than the rest of them did
Lennon - 4
Bale - 4
Defoe - 4

Dembele - 7
Adebayor - 6
Hudd - 0

Lennon hasn't had competition since he arrived at the club.......7 season's ago.

Er, Routledge was first choice when he and Lennon turned up. Routledge got injured and Lennon came in and he never looked back.
Safe to say he saw off the challenge of our big money signing David Bentley too.

I think bentley or Carroll would be a better option in the centre of midfield than playing Sandro and Livermore in the same team.
