Lots of off sides today.... something to work on.

As noted by many in the match thread. Winks was a bit reckless at times. Good engine and worked hard, but needs to chill a bit.

And a shout to the ref. Thought he was good.
I thought Winks was trying too hard to impress. Dropped down the playing order since last season(rightly so) and not a perma starter like he was.

PEH for me. What a warrior - hard as nails, took no prisoners. Basically, he was Rambo in a Spurs shirt.

Minus the survivor's guilt, of course.

Well it was a disjointed performance by players who have never played with each other before, but very good players at that.

Lots of great signs, CV looks a player, a proper all rounder. Doherty, I thought was impressive today as well, he is slowly settling in, that right hand side with bale and Doherty could be very special indeed.

PEH again stand out performer. He is quickly becoming the heart of this team.

The only poor performer was Erik lamela who consistently ruined opportunity after opportunity by not releasing the ball earlier and fucking rolling his foot over the ball like a training match. I know I will get the wrath of the lamela fan club but GLC came on and immediately we were a much better team. (Son as well of course)

What a bonus it must be for mourihno to have players like son and GLC, players who give high energy, high quality performances constantly.

Anyway we made a tricky game look easy.

Add a little Joe Hart note at the bottom as well for not only being rock solid but excellent distribution.

mom - PEH again, just for his double pirouette and Terry butcher impression.

PEH probably just gets the MOTM for me.

Vinicious did very well, good first game, he could be a real find and something we have needed. He will get a lot of assists with fast players playing off him and his ability to hold play and pass them in.

Moura put in a good performance too.

Regulion is a little bale in the making potentially, such a lovable chap and fantastic run he did for the 2nd goal, he continues to impress

Defence wise i was concerned when i saw our CB line up but LASK did not test us at all really or put us under pressure so will reserve judgment on that. Only concern i would say is defending from set pieces and thats more of a team thing, we dont look comfortable, is a soft area atm and that is something we need to work on.

Bale had some good touches and passes and was getting involved, you can see his intentions, some didnt work but alot of this is down to his rustiness and more minutes will resolve this.

Is there a team in the world that has a player as good as Dele Alli as its 23rd man?
Hopefully he will re-discover his mojo in the next few months. He was very good today in the Ndombele role. Pity that he didn't score.

I dont mind a thursday night game, thursday are shit anyways so may as well watch Spurs.

Anyways id give the team performance an overall 6.5 but notable mentions to Vini who i really like, Davies who did well at the back and Lucas who was busy busy

Bale needs his fitness, just looks tight and needs to let loose which will take time given he hasnt played in a while

LASK are shit

I was talking to my Old Man about Dele last night. Currently we have a free scoring team that, if/when we get the defensive frailties sorted out, could feasibly be a serious challenge for a number of honours this season.
What I said was that Dele will be looking at the way we're performing and has got to be thinking to himself "I want a piece of this." He's an intelligent lad who must realise the only way that will happen is if he ups his game to meet the demands that JM is placing on him, so what we should effectively have is a World Class talent taking his game to the next level and making an awesome attacking lineup even stronger.

Hopefully he's had that epiphany and we finally see the player we all know is in there.

Davies might be the best CB at the club. Shit opponents though so it's hard to tell.

I was impressed thought he played really well. I don't think he's good enough going forward for us long term as cover for Reguilon it feels we will lose a lot when Reguilon isn't in the team with Davies as back up so this could be a good evolution for him. as Jose says there aren't many left footed CB's. The only worry I have is none of our CB's possibly other than Dier look good in the air from set pieces its usually Kane that's winning headers at the back more than anyone and Davies height is not going to solve that problem. we don't look like conceding many at all from open play so as good as Davies was there i'm not sure he is the solution to the problem we have been having. Maybe Rodon on the right Davies on the left all welsh CB pairing would be a good option.

i went for Vini. When Kane has been out we have not had a focal point in attack that can link up play, hold the ball up and look a threat and be a pain. The guy had strength, speed, nice passing and movement. It was refreshing finally to see an actual striker in place when Kane is not playing. On top of that he made two great assists and nearly had another one or two if i remember, sadly he didn't get a goal but if he can assist in other games and play well overall then he is doing a great job.

Davies was my second choice, good defending, calm and some lovely forward passing including helping with the first goal.

Hart, one shank with his left side, looks far more comfortable on the ball than Pep would have us believe. Looks calm between the sticks and Dele with everything routinely.

Doherty was a Dynamo up and down his flank, looked well with Bale and was unlucky not to assist Clarke. Should’ve done better with that early cruising opportunity when Vinicius was on the penalty spot but he delayed.

Sanchez was comfortable, marked well and covered his fullback nicely.

Davies was very good, both defensively and playing the ball out.

Reguilón was again just plain fun to watch. Loved his jinking run in the build up to our second. Feisty git too.

Winks started a tough sloppy but he improved and looked more confident as the game wore on. Too many fouls.

Højbjerg was again complete. Crisis decisive passing, snuffed out danger, manful battling. One poor touch in dangerous territory but otherwise was our heartbeat again.

Bale was fine. Clearly not fit yet, but even when he is I don’t expect we’ll ever see him charging around like an infant spaniel again. Even at half mast he showed some gorgeous moments of class, particularly his reverse pass to Doherty and his outstep cross for the own goal. Loved his Son like refusal to be dispossessed when he scrapped for ball that had got away second half.

Lamela frustrated me tonight. Good decisive pass to Bale building up to our second but overall he was guilty of dallying and holding onto the ball too often.

Lucas scored a good goal, energy was through the roof and the way he killed two high balls was magic. Good game.

Vinicius messed up his only real chance but otherwise was great and could have had double the assists. Good link and hold up play, good passing, good skill, good player.

Lo Celso and Dele both looked determined and sharp. Sissoko was Sissoko. Son took his goal beautifully. Clarke has begun his ascent to being his generation’s greatest entertainer.
Some good ones in there! You didn't happen to post this on your mobile by any chance?

did anyone else notice that despite a good debut Sidney was well offside on quite a few occasions
