You make it sound like you’re the only black man on the forum!
My dad was Caucasian and my mum black.... what am I?...... colour blind, that’s what I am. I don’t care what colour you are, you’re a human being and should behave like one.
I grew up in the West Indies and they called me “white boy” I spent 27 years in the UK and the last year in Florida the call me black.

My point is, I strongly believe that if someone is proven to be playing the race card (in any circumstance) they should be punished, regardless of their colour.
Having said that I agree with another poster. It’s dangerous ground as this may prevent a genuine people from making a complaint as they might fear that they are not believed and punished on top.

Fair play to you mate, I respect your opinion but in this case I feel you’re far off the mark.
I’m sorry that you suffer abuse on a daily basis and probably that has something to do with your post.
This is a dumb post. All of it.

At least one of our fans has said they heard the abuse and reported it to the club. They’ve even posted proof of this too, with the response received from the club.

With that said, I’m fucking disgusted to be in any way associated with some of you in this thread. As a black man, I encounter racism almost on a daily basis, and it’s the responses similar to those I’ve read in here that ensure that nothing will ever change. I’m talking about the insinuations (and at least one accusation of a race card) that Rudiger has made this up or been mistaken, and opinions on what should happen to him if this is unproven, JUST because you don’t like that the allegation (in your view) paints the club in a bad light. Are you really THAT tribal that your “loyalty” to your club trumps basic decency? Either that or you’re racists yourself.

I have no problem whatsoever with anyone wanting to wait until there’s proof before making a judgement - but (for the most part) that’s not what’s going on here. By attempting to discredit Rudiger, you are 100% part of the problem. For the avoidance of doubt, if you’ve made or condoned any comments along the lines of the following, then it’s you I’m referring to:

- I don’t believe him
- this didn’t happen
- funny how he’s the only one to have heard this alleged abuse. he must have amazing hearing
- he’s playing the race card
- maybe he was mistaken
- for his sake I hope he’s not mistaken, because if he is then he should apologise and/or be punished
- etc etc

If the mods feel I’ve gone too far and decide to ban me, then so be it. But I’m not going to sit here and read this shit without calling it out for what it is.

Great post.

There are many posters here who are happy to say they are not racist and that they would be happy for the person to be punished.

However, wittingly or unwittingly, they are happy to cast doubt on the claims being made before the investigation has been carried out. Of course nobody knows whether the claims are true or not but that is beside the point. The point is that until the investigation is complete, we should be more concerned to absolutely condemn racism than we should to question the integrity or competence of someone who may be a victim.

This is a dumb post. All of it.

Yeah it’s a well dumb post that Dr Know suffered racist abuse in his lifetime.........

Honestly mate what sort of idiotic post is this, have a look at yourself, give yourself a slap and don’t ever say that someone suffering racist abuse is “dumb”.

I think the club has done everything right so far. We have CCTV which has been looked at which have come back with nothing, and we are now asking for lip readers and any other form of proof to try and find the person(s) who committed the alleged abuse.

If they find something then great and we can ban whoever was doing it, if not, then everyone just needs to move on from this particular instance.

Chief, if Tommy Robinson endorses you, you’re hardly going to be an anti racist group aren’t you? Engage those brain cells and do the math.

Why do you feel offended if I say that these knuckle draggers are racist?

Hi mate. As a man of colour who also has been subject to Racism, I do want to take what Rudiger said at face value and believe that he is definitely reporting in good faith. I’ve had instances where I’ve been accused of using the race card. I’ve been scarred and do have trauma from it. However I know there will be racists as spurs as I have experienced it. Chances and statistics are that someone would have said something racist to him on Sunday. However I just can’t see us or any other English club really starting any en masse monkey chanting, it just seems completely out of character. I’d really have to evaluate how I feel about going to future games if this was proven that fans chanted monkey noises in unison. I wouldn’t want to know I’m there with a chorus of racists.

I didnt mind the warnings to be honest. Warnings are just that a warning... you see warnings everywhere you go.

But imagine if Chelsea just walked off? If they were 5-0 down, what would have happened? you never know, as Homer suggests, and yes it is cynical but you can start making shit up to use it tactically to walk off...

Only the ref can call the game off.
If a team just walks off they will probably forfeit the match.

And I can't see a ref calling a match off unless he or one of his officials have heard something themselves.

I would hope that someone would have been sent down to the area that the claimed racist chants were made, so that if it did continue then its not just a player, or one team making claims.

We won't see teams using this to win games.

FWIW I was in the North Upper so cant comment but I would say that I’ve heard racist abuse against black players once in my 28 years going to Spurs; circa 1999 guy near me called Vieira a “black twat”. That said I’ve only heard it once going to footy at all when I lived in Valencia I heard someone call Eto’o a “coño negro” or something like that, a “black ****”.

However; I’ve heard as recently as this season plenty of abusive comments that are racist, sexist or homophobic from fans near me so if this happened part of me would be surprised and part of me wouldn’t if that makes sense.

For me, G Nev was absolutely spot on. This person or persons doesn’t like in a bubble. He lives in a divided and racist country where the PM has made racially and sexually offensive comments and (albeit a false or unequal equivalence) the largest opposition party has attracted members with disgusting views about Jews.

As equally fucked up as the US is in terms of racism, I’d be interested if anything like this has happened in sport there.

We know racism exists and still happens , this occurrence would seem to be by a very small minority in a very large crowd, I have spoken to a family member who was in block 252 and didn't hear any monkey chants also spoken to a friend in lower east , south east corner and he didn't hear anything apart from the usual insults so looks like it can be narrowed down to around 251 where we have a fan who heard these chants. Hopefully the CCTV can concentrate on that area and ban these so called fans.

If Rudiger, or anyone else, reports it to the police and in that report is able to identify the person/ persons responsible, then there will be a charge. Racism is currently dealt with a duty of positive action, so even if all they have is Rudiger’s accusation and one person has been identified, that person will be charged and need to defend himself in court, probably a mags rather than crown (though the racial aggregation means it could be either).

With the technology available I will be amazed if the incident did occur and nobody is identified.

I know he's gone but agree with a lot of this. Except that it's not ok to think "maybe he was mistaken".

The one thing I'm 100% sure of is that Rudiger's motives were not in any way cynical.

I don't know why he's gone, he didn't say anything untoward and was only trying to explain his view. Much worse has been said.

Generally on this day of trial by media, presumption of innocence should be held on much higher regard than it nowadays is. Especially given the advances on technology.
