Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

I used to be a steward for around 7 years in the east stand ( I pay nowadays to go to games) and I’ve heard a few things over the years. Our own fans used to shout things at Lee Young Pyo. It was pretty shocking.
Honestly though it has been a lot better over the past few years so I was shocked today.

I heard those in the east lower also years ago.

You sure? First one definitely looked like a bottle and spun in the air like one. Then a minute later two more were thrown together.
Yeah it was cardboard coffee cups, with lids I think, it was on my side of the south stand, in fact the keeper screwed them up as he threw them behind the goal, other than them I didn't see any bottles near me.

He was nearly 3 times over the speed limit and under the influence and killed a 19 year old women. His punishment was just a 3 year ban and fine which to him was peanuts. Us chanting he is a murderer is fully justified.
Jesus. I didnt know the story at all.
Still makes me feel uncomfortable hearing that chanted but if it's as clear cut as that then it ends there.
Can only imagine of someone was taken away from me like that I'd be..... Well, words couldn't not explain.
Thank you for putting me right.

I wasn't there if that's what you mean. To call that racist is incorrect. It's xenophobia. There is a difference.
Ordinarily I'd agree but I don't actually know what it would qualify as really. Making derogatory comments about the death of about a quarter of someone's countrymen (especially when it could have been avoided had the British authorities been so inclined) is, I'm sure we all agree, just not cricket.

Well, the song about Adebayor was very racist, but just a little bit subtle. That was okay, apparantly? I don't get this. Why is it okay to call someones mom a thief and a whore and bully someone, but as soon it is racist or homophobic, it is alarm bells and statements from the club and blah blah. Not saying racism should be tolerated though. Not at all. But, I want things in perspective. If someone called him something tonight, they were probably furious and frustrated. It's not like they did it for fun like the Lazio fans, I guess..and hope.

I’m embarrassed that no one around the person didn’t give them a slap.

How moronic must someone be to chant racist crap at an opposition player when our players and fans are from all sorts of cultures? Maybe it’s a heat of the moment thing and the person realises they have been at but of a t*** and turns themselves in.

If someone is caught I actually think they should be sent on a course (a bit like speeding drivers) and actually try to be educated about it. Just banning them for life is not solving the wider issue. They’ll still have a shit attitude but just outside of the stadium.

Yep heard it first hand, towards Son and those Asian fans that attend games to support him.

disgusting.

worst part of this is that it’s the 2nd incident recently (banana throwing).. and we’ve hammered Chelsea as the racist club eh!

It's not hurling either I reckon.

There was pandemonium at the time so I suppose it's feasible he was mistaken, I really can't believe he'd be so bad as to make it up so no doubt we will see it on match of the day and get the definitive.

Direct physical confrontation could lead to innocent bystanders getting hurt in the melee if it does kick off, especially if kids are nearby.

I'm giving banana thrower benefit of doubt. His biggest crime was throwing an object towards an arsenal player. The banana skin was imo the nearest thing he could see that he could throw

I cant remember the exact details but it's something like the judge convinced the parents to accept a ridiculously lenient sentence in exchange for a payout.
