The UEFA meeting on Tuesday is the important one. If they cancel European competitions then I’m assuming they will take the decisions out of country’s governing bodies hands and say all football has to stop.

If the rest of the season is cancelled, folks, league positions will stand as they are now. Liverpool will win the title, Chelsea win go into the Champions League next season and we will have zero, nada, fuck all.

BBC seem to think there could be a threat of legal action if the rest of the season is cancelled.

" Simply stopping the season as it stands now seems unlikely given it would run the risk of legal action from clubs relegated or denied promotion.

The EFL are now expected to ask the government for financial help for some of the clubs who now face even more financial uncertainty but there is no guarantee that this will be possible in these extraordinary times. "

Definitely wont start again at the beginning of April, even behind closed doors isn't viable when the virus has hit plays and staff at 3 PL clubs. The season is over folks, How the FA and UEFA deal with this will be interesting.

Wouldn't be popping the champagne just yet. Every chance this could clear up by July/August when they can finish the 8/9 matches and start the following season immediately after. Pre-season effectively now. Either way, suits us down to the ground at least when we can get players back and not have them knackered from the Euros.

Think it would have to be mathematically impossible for them to lose it before they could be given the title.

It's not mathematically impossible. If Liverpool were to lose all the remainder of their games and Man City won all theirs City would win the title by 5 points. Liverpool are on 82 points having played 29 games, City are on 57 points having played 28

If they just call the season off and hand Liverpool the title it will always be remembered as the "The Corona Title". Of course Liverpool has already practically won it even if it is theoretically possible that they wouldn't if all the remaining matches were played.

If this were Spurs I'd be extremely disappointed. Not having an official closure and a 'definitive' title winning match.
Prolonging the season well in to the summer has huge ramifications on the transfer window and the next season so that's a tricky road to go down.

No way sky and bt would allow the season to finish now.
We’ll be play figures in June with mid week games as well.
FA cup might get sacked off though

In reality nobody could begrudge Liverpool being given the title if the season were to end now, and it would be quietly amusing to see them miss out on a record-breaking points haul which they're very much on course for.

The bigger problem would be what happens at the lower end of the table - it seems unfair to relegate teams who've strengthened in January and are putting up a good fight to stay in the league. However at the same time, it'd be unfair to give Liverpool the title if you're not promoting the top 3 championship teams.

What could work - have a relegation moratorium for one season. So, top 3 teams from the Championship get promoted, with no PL relegations. Next season, the PL plays with 23 teams, with the bottom 6 being relegated at the end of 2020/21.

Repeat as necessary for each league below.

There’s no way the positions could hold, there would be litigation for lost revenue earned circa 150m per every team that could qualify for the CL money, there would be litigation from the relegated teams, Bournemouth going down on goal difference etc. it would be utter chaos. You already have pl chairmen calling for it to be voided.

They simply cannot hand the title or relagate teams if it's mathatically possible for positions to change. Imagine the legal challenges as it hasn't been a level playing field due to some teams playing others and some not.

That's actually a brilliant solution.

If it isn't supposed to peak for another 10/11 weeks, what good is postponing the season until April going to do?

I think the only solution is to rock paper scissors every remaining match of the PL season. Via video link, naturally.
