Hopefully this also helps the wider public realise what a mess we're handling. Pretty sure this would be the first league suspension since the war. It's going to be followed sooner or later with the school system being suspended too. It's the biggest crisis the vast majority of us have ever lived through not just because of the immediate impact, however grim that could be. But also because of the potential for it to hang around and mutate ever year - like the flu but far more deadly. Delaying as long as possible while we hope beyond hope the scientists find a vaccine is THE international priority right now. I'm not frankly convinced that we'll start next season anywhere near on time/at all, let alone finish this one, and that's okay.

They need to realise that lots of people have this now and its only going to get worse. They need to suspend the games for at least a fortnight and see where we are then. Playing games at this point is reckless.

First time arsenal have had something positive this season. Maybe the wrong time to joke, but ah well.

If the season is voided, do we keep our CL spot?
If it's voided then probably yes. And that is apparently what they're discussing tomorrow. But also could be done based on current standings or from the 19 game mark. Or some kind of playoff if we resume games in the summer. Lawyers will have a field day in any case

Postponement is what needs to happen for now. It buys time to work out the contingencies if playing the matches out becomes impracticable. Public health should not be put at heightened risk for the sake of a fucking sport.

Talk is that legally, if we can resume in August, the simplest option is to abandon the whole season and write it out of the history books. Kane is still behind Chivers, Ndombele/GLC/Sessegnon/Bergwijn/Fernandes are yet to make their debuts, we're looking forward to the Champions League Group Stage draw, and Liverpool have never been Premier League champions.

Arteta testing positive is a game changer / wake up. You can still be infectious weeks after symptoms have passed so he can't go near the squad for a long time.

Can't help but feel the PL were waiting for something like this to happen so that they can point to a reason.

In all seriousness would they perhaps restart the league and give Liverpool ahead start??

I was thinking today they may wait for the players to all pass quarantine (be all confirmed negative) and pack them off to Qatar and finish the season there if it is not feeling the virus.

9 games could be squeezed in over a few weeks if they really wanted and they'd love that money spinner.

Id booked a trip over for the arsenal game in April for my sons 18th would be surprised if it went ahead but been told by travel co id get a full refund if its cancelled or behind closed doors, id likely lose money on flights but will see how it unfolds, i think the season could well be abandoned and think the Euros will be cancelled.

Yesterday the NBA had a player test positive and suspended the season within an hour. The PL has no choice. The FA has no choice. It has to be stopped immediately.

I think the season could well be abandoned and think the Euros will be cancelled.

In hindsight I think a lot of us will look back in shock at how much this event is destabilizing humanity. The Olympics have only been cancelled due to World War. The COVID virus may change that. The NCAA Basketball Tournament survived World War II. It got cancelled today. The Premier League and 2020 European Championship might go down in history as having not happened.

ALL games this weekend going ahead. Despite two clubs having players in isolation, another only just leaving it, confirmed cases in various footballers, and nearly every other league being off or at least behind closed doors. Absolutely mad. Premier League football is about the last thing the country needs right now.

I'm wondering whether they want a few more games to make sure there is an official winner. Then suspend it with less controversy.

Given the sharp turn it has taken in the last day or so, you'd think the decision to call the games for the foreseeable future would be instant. But they haven't. Yet.

Hudson Odoi has tested positive.

Bundesliga are seriously considering ending the season with no trophy & no relegation.

Teams that currently occupy European places would qualify to the CL & EL and the league would expand to 22 teams next season (chance for 4 new clubs to be promoted).

Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive as well. This season is done for at least a couple of months. What are we all going to do with no sport on TV though?? Life is going to be boring
