He's more promising than Arshavin imo.....he is an immense talent. Dont know why the likes of Bolton are being linked...he is definately a step above that and if there is any chance we should punce.

has been linked with Marseille in this window. Good player, but very similar to Pav.

He's a lot more prolific than Pav though. I actually think they could be a really good partnership for us.

I do agree though in an ideal world it would be a choice between Pav and Pog and to be perfectly honest I would pick Pog but when you consider the other options appear to be Kenwyne Jones and Craig Bellamy Ill fly to Russia and give Pog a piggyback to the lane.

Hes strong, tall and very good in the air. Would be great with defoe or pav. think hes 25 years, was first choice striker in national team but injury forced them to play pavlychenko

Can he hold the ball up? If we're playing 4-4-2 with a big man next to JD they need to be able to bring the ball down and hold it up.

No chance. Too many letters all out of place in his name. We need Bobby Smith back, or Kenwynne Jones. Nice easy surnames to sing about.

so you are saying lets not sign a player that could save our season because we could not sing a song about him???

Precisely. The sole reason we shouldn't have signed Pavlyuchenko, Dumitrescu and Leonhardsen. We need to go for players like Wes Brown, Stern John and keep Darren Bent.

He's not better than Pavlyuchenko, that is why Roman is keeping him out of the Russia team now.

From what little I've seen he's much more of a beast than Pav.

He is. He's kinda the Russian Heskey. He's big and strong, not very graceful, but does the job. Arshavin rates him as a better striker than Pav but says that both are good. He could deal with the physical aspect of the PL but i'm not sure how he would deal with the speed of play. Pav is much more nimble than Pog and look how he is having to adjust.

You ever see the Sopranos episode where Paulie Walnuts and Christopher are trying to off this Russian out in NJ Pine Barrens?
Tony Soprano tries to tell them that the Ruskie, that they just bungled to give a dirt nap, previously worked in the Russian Ministry Of The Interior [in Chechnya]. Unfortunately the mobile phone connection between Tony and Paulie was very bad so Paulie and Christopher were walking through these woods looking for their guy all the while discussing how this big Russian palooka could possibly be an interior decorator.

Pog looks like he should be working in the Russian Ministry Of The Interior.

If we're offering 15 mil for KWJones and can get this guy on loan to me there is no question.
Pogs is a significantly better player than the lad from sunderland.

Pogrebnyak is better then Pav, without a doubt, in my opinion anyway.

Better all around game, and just as / more prolific in front of goal - from the few games ive seen of him, he has never dissapointed.

It might also be worth pointing out, that Pav is only as well known as he is now due to Pogrebnyak. It was his injury that gave Pav his run in the russian first 11, leading to those goals against England, and the starts for Russia in the euro's.

If pogrebnyak was fit, Pav would have been a bench warmer.

Pogrebnyak looked very good for ZSP from what I saw of them. A different type of player than Pav though. He's quite neat and clever, and has a damn good finish too. We already have 4 strikers though, and no left side.
