Bring him back please. He's our only real DM apart from Dier, who doesnt do any justice whatsoever in his role as a DM.

Wanyama is a really good footballer. He just needs to be given a pat on the back by Jose and being asked the question "are you victor or are you victor's brother?"

Unfortunately I think Victor is shot due to injuries.
A shame because he would be perfect Jose midfielder

Think he is done at us. Think Mourinho mentioned he is fit and currently doesn't have any injury problems but suspect we won't take a risk playing him in case he breaks down and scuppers any chance of moving him on in January. However agree, a fit, peak Wanyama would be good to have now.

omg we were so poor in the middle tonight it could mean the return of Big Vic

A sad sad reflection of our lack of activity in the transfer window because he has been finished as a Premier league footballer for a very very long time

Maybe as long as it took to build our shiny new stadium!!

Looking back at this thread he's been finished for over 2 years now which is unbelievable

Losing him and Dier in the middle of the park to injuries and illnesses has really set this squad back. Add that to the loss of Dembele and you get to where we are now!

Worrying

Gross negligence by management to let our DM situation come to this.

I would rather have seen Skipp get loads of matches and make loads of (learning) mistakes than watch some of the lack of balance and drivel in midfield that we witnessed in the last 10 months or so of Poch's reign. Even putting Eriksen in there only half solved the problem last season. Presumably if Dier can only last one match per week, Wanyama never returns and Skipp is never trusted then we may again see some sort of WInks/Sissoko nonsense again.

Did he look quicker and more mobile or did I imagine it ? Maybe just anyone compared to Dier would lol.

Here's what we are missing.

A player who screens the defence, anticipates the touch of the attacker to make the block, covers ground to put a block in, covers defenders who've been pulled out of position, bullies opposition midfielders with his strengths cutely works his way out of tight defensive areas to put the team on the offensive and wins the first and second balls.

The club simply have to do everything in their power to find this man's successor. (2 years too late)

Yup, gutted for him and us. Defensive midfield is our 'Spinal Tap drummer'. The position is cursed.

Shame injuries have taken their toll on him. Could see him thriving under Mourinho if he was the same player from a few years ago.

let's be honest - if we had the pre injury Wanyama playing for us we would have finished higher in the league the past two seasons, might have made the difference in the CL final and Poch would still be here.

That video. How effortless he looked pre- knee injury.

That is the kind of player we are really missing. Such a shame that he is still on our books, but not the same player. Watching that video just makes me sad. I bet he’s not over the moon at the mo either.

he was such a beast in his first season with us 16-17, that team had such a lovely balance with him and Dembele and the full backs, now its dampened by non footballers like Sissoko (who barely got a look in that season) and Aurier.
Sadly that Wanyama is long gone, after 3 years of constantly hoping he would be back.
