Hoddle used to play the ball to where he wanted them to run until they twigged.

I fear I may have (reluctantly) lost faith in the boy too soon. Really enjoying watching him improve game by game and hopefully this becomes a regular thing in the league too.
Perhaps not the same, but it reminded me of one point when TN played a short pass in to a space he expected Winks to run into...except Winks just stood there, leading to a turnover. Our midfielders are just not used to playing with the dynamism TN and GLC bring.

It’s crazy because some of our fans will go to war over players we all know are far less talented. People really acted like no one’s ever had a bad first season before. But when you have social media, the traditional media and even some ITKs screaming get rid then I don’t blame some for giving up on him

No I know, I think aswell, a large problem is the money involved. People seem to think 2 things, 1 is that the fee means that there can be no excuse but to hit the ground running. The 2nd is that some seem to take a players wages personally and that because they earn X amount and it takes us a few years to earn what they do in a week that it's some sort of personal insult. What people don't factor in is that your mental health doesn't give a fuck how much somebody is willing to pay you or how much somebody paid for your services, if you're low on confidence and struggling to adjust, that hits some harder than others.

I'm over the moon personally that we've managed to turn this ship around because I don't think there's a midfielder in europe we could sign that excites me more than Ndombele.

Patience and Spurs fans don't exactly go together though

As much as I'm absolutely loving the transfer decisions we're making, I do think people are obsessed with trying to fix things by signings and not trying to improve a player in the squad or let them develop. I mean I'm still firmly in Foyths corner to become a top CB

Like Ndombele, Foyth still has a lot of learning to do. Would love foyth to go on loan and get game time but looks like he’ll be moved on.

Still can’t find any decent highlights or full game recap of this one so I can’t comment much on it. But the things I’ve liked seeing the most from him are that he has looked to be more involved, been way better positionally and is starting to show his ability outside of the moments where he has to. That might sound weird and kind of hard to explain but all his flashes of crazy ability seemed to be when under pressure and instinctive. There have been more signs of him dictating when those moments happen.

I thought today was a test for Tanguy. We conceded and knew this is a one off match. Jose could have easily taken off Tanguy instead of Winks but knew Ndombele offers much more on the field than Winks could hope for, especially going forward.

I think the two main things that would have impressed Jose tonight about his performance is that

1. Not only did he manage to play a full 90 mins (Something he hasn't done this year) but showed energy to still sprint forward in the last 5 mins. His fitness is slowly coming back. I'm sure none of us expected Tanguy sprinting on the 86th min

2. His defensive positions when they were attacking. Ndombele ran all the way back when they were attacking and actually marked the far post. Davies was in way up the pitch so Ndombele took the responsibility to help his LB and crucially clear the ball.

We all know what he can do on the ball, now he is slowly improving off the ball as well. Tanguy, for me, is still easily our most talented midfielder, even more than Lo Celso!

He’s got such an unusual style on the ball, like no one else, past or present. The way he sort of leans into the ball and releases it simultaneously. Whatever happens to him he’s a unique talent and we’re lucky to have him.

His passing is ridiculous, his unorthodox style sometimes makes it look less class than it really is. Winks on the other hand is easy on the eye but far less productive

He’s always been ridiculously good and never deserved any of the hate he got from our fans last year and this summer. He is a phenomenal midfielder. He’s like Dembele on the ball but with amazing vision and passing skills. He’s going to prove irreplaceable in our XI this season.

I could see the potential when he first came, he just wasn't showing it enough.
When he starts playing more games he will be a revelation.
His positive and quick passing and the ability to thread the ball through taking out 4 opposition players is brilliant and something we have needed for a long time.
I never wanted him to leave and think he will be vital for us for the years ahead.

I didn’t see hate, I saw disappointment. Disappointment that was justified and when he has good games where he does the right things alongside the always present natural ability makes it even more disappointing that he didn’t put it together more often. You very rarely see such strong disappointment toward players with no ability or no expectation.

I don’t think he is near Dembele level on the ball yet and certainly not off the ball. He’s never going to look as graceful and elegant either. His passing and creativity as on another level to Dembele though.

Most happy that he is showing clear signs of improvement and clear progress. Going to be awesome I’m sure.

I don’t disagree, and I think the whole “Dembele Replacement” talk is more about function than an actual like-for-like talent replacement. I feel pretty confident in saying it will be a longggg time before we see anything like Mousa Dembele again. And not just for Tottenham... anywhere. Its bizarre but I think about his first match against United for us often. Power, grace, skill, work rate. Thems were the days!

Yep. Ndombele is going to do it his way. He is going to play more incisive balls, take more risks. He may not anchor our team the same way, he isn’t going to dominate players the same but thinking about the options we have in our forward line he is going to certainly be the guy to unlock defences in a way no other player can on our team.

Of all his passes in that clip, I love the one at 0:36. Don't know to put it into objective description but it was an interception cum a forward pass with conviction, all in one touch. Impeccable vision and finesse.

When the lads were out here in Singapore during the last season's pre season, it was a joy watching him in the open training session.

I'm a big fan of his and I for one hope he won't leave.

I know people will still complain about his workrate, effort or motivation but he is one player that I enjoy watching, he is probably the most spurs type player we have had in a good few years.

If he continues to put in the shift and effort yesterday he will play every game.

When I see Sissoko on the teamsheet I really don't want to watch spurs and the opposite effect with Tanguy.

Some excellent passes and work rate from him yesterday. He likes to fizz the ball forwards to feet at every opportunity, not stop, wait, and pass back to the CB’s. You can see why our strikers haven’t been the same for a while without Eriksen and Dembele in midfield. Really can’t wait for PEH, Gio, and Ndom to get a run of games together, with Bale, Kane, and Son ahead of them. Woooooo!!! Those 6 can rival anyone in this league. If Skriniar comes in and Reguilon in the back four. Wow.

Another thing I like about Ndombele, is his all black boots. ✅
