Most encouraging thing was the fitness issues subsided when he started to show more confidence in the 2nd half. That passage of play in the later portion of the 2nd half where he broke up the play and sprung the counter (and got all the way to the opponent box and made himself an option) was super encouraging. Definitely agree with others in thinking that while I'm sure there was fitness issues at play, confidence may have been playing just as big of a part for him.

He keeps the ball moving which is what I like. Happy to play forward, good first first touch passing and has good awareness. Hoping this is the corner turned.

Progressive passing is the missing ingredient and Ndombele has it. Nice to see a glimpse of Ndombele alongside Lo Celso. Maybe a sign of things to come only with Hojbjerg tucked in behind. A much needed 90mins, showed good tracking back and a nice run late in the game. Probably too soon to start Sunday but should start Tuesday.

Also, I have to say finally seeing Ndombele (and Lo Celso) playing those incisive passes between the fullback and centerback to Aurier/Moura was super fun and something we have desperately been missing.

Quality game from him today. And to think just a few weeks ago on here if you said you still rated him you’d get neg repped. To quote Nainggolan: “I’ll answer on the pitch, then we’ll see when they start kissing my ass”

Yeah, first half he looked fucked by the 30th minute and I was half expecting him to be taken off at half time. Second half he seemed to have gotten a second wind, really got physical at times. Still tried a couple of crappy drag backs in some really silly positions (shades of Atouba), but was really good overall.

I hope it becomes ndom and glc rather than one or.

I feel its a bit like modric when he started. You give him the advanced role so he's not defensively liable. But in the end, runs thr show.

I think you'll get your wish because of how the alternatives are playing.

When u see the forward penetration with the passes from the likes of Tanguy and Lo Celso tonight you finally see how frustratingly some of our other players play it

What I can't comprehend is how they don't realise it's more of a risk not to play those passes because you will lose your squad place  Winks has the technical ability to be hitting those forward passes, it seems to be a mental thing where he's creating indecision for himself.

I really enjoyed seeing Ndombele give instructions to others around the pitch, I don't remember seeing that last year. He even seems to share the same opinion (or instruction) of Mourinho that sometimes the players need to move the ball quicker.

Hoddle used to play the ball to where he wanted them to run until they twigged.

I fear I may have (reluctantly) lost faith in the boy too soon. Really enjoying watching him improve game by game and hopefully this becomes a regular thing in the league too.

Difficult not to when half the forum is calling you people idiots for believing he'll come good. Honestly when the ITK came out there was about 12 of us left thinking he'd turn it around

It’s crazy because some of our fans will go to war over players we all know are far less talented. People really acted like no one’s ever had a bad first season before. But when you have social media, the traditional media and even some ITKs screaming get rid then I don’t blame some for giving up on him
