He showed the one bit of quality in the first 45 that got us back in the game and people still moaning. Just say you don't like him. Blaming him for the goal we conceded is fanciful

Defensive work unparalleled to anything I've seen from him in a Spurs shirt. Also controlled the midfield for virtually the whole second half. Exciting from him.

I said in the match thread (and got hammered for it) his performance first half wasn't enough, he was hiding and wasn't doing enough to take the game to them.

Second half was a different player. Looked to dictate, was across the pitch, played some sublime passes, covered well and had a bursting run forward.

I do wonder if he just has problems when he starts games, like he needs the game to be a bit chaotic to come alive. If it's too slow and passive his performance reflects that...

Its key that after next week we have Lo Celso and him on the pitch for all games.

Only saw the second half and he looked decent and was working hard tracking back etc. Was surprised to see him last 90 minutes. Was that the first time he’s done that for us?

Think you might be right. The difference between first half and second half was chalk and cheese. He does just seem to take time to 'wake up' as we so often heard Jose shout at him in that first half

No, that was the 7th time he's completed 90 mins for us. First time since February though.

Just glad he got the full 90 under his belt. When Lo Celso was coming on, thought it was nailed on Ndombele would come off but glad he stayed on. Probably partly due the level of opposition....think it was clear you could take a risk with both on the pitch without a DM as the oppo were not really up to much.

I don't think it's that, it's just he's lacking that rhythm you get from consistently starting games, as I've said on here, his performances won't be linear. He will have games where suddenly he has a dip or even completely different halves. Once he's starting games for 8-10 weeks in a row then we'll get to see some real consistency.

You can tell he wants to prove himself this season. I’m really happy about this like it feels like a new signing

Hopefully this is a turning point for him and he pushes on. If he can do that he'll be a phenominal player with the talent he has.
