When we paid £12m for Nkudu and Njie I can see your point.
This time we paid a club record £56m for what is supposed to be the finished article. After we wasted all the Bale money, I hoped the scouting dept would have had a review. Maybe it is a curse to be the record signing, Soldado? Lamela?
I hope you are right, but he seems to be overweight, unbalanced and easily stopped. I have watched videos of him dashing forward in French football but we have rarely seen any of this. He seems to see a pass as per second goal vs City. You just expect better when the club spend a major amount of their transfer budget, you would get someone who would seriously influence the club's results. So 2 goals, 2 assists, 2 yellow cards.

The finished article at 22 years old and has only been playing top flight football for 3 seasons?...someone needs to lower their expectations.

Ndombele is very good and potentially even better. That's the going rate for someone like him.
Oh the rate has obviously gone up since we signed Soldado for £32m
Honestly, it's like buying a mansion and then finding it has dry rot !!
Who is in our scouting dept ?
I thought we bought him, and others, so that we could have a better team.

I think it's very visible how good he is. He is having fitness problems.
Some players adapt later than others.

I wouldn't be worried about him.
There are other issues in the team that are more worrying imo

Transfer fees are what they're us spending 60M on Ndombele is the going rate. I have confidence he will be value for money and believe if played continuously he will get up to match fitness.

City paid £100M on full backs...thats the competition

OK then why did we pay £56m for someone who, according to you, is just potentially good?

Lol, he is the kind of player that we needed so much, 56m for one of the two most exciting prospects at cm(with De Jong).

And last match was what, maybe his second or third appearance for Tottenham when he wasn't one of the best player on the pitch?

You can't quote the cheating Mancs as a template surely ?

Give the man time. I have seen enough to know that he is on a different level to most players

Frustrating that he can't seemingly get fit but he shows on the ball the talent he clearly has. Has the potential to be very special as long as he takes on board the advice he is presumably getting on his diet and fitness.

I think he is a star player in the making

It's been a disappointing start for him, truth be told

But at least he has shown what he can do, there have been moments of brilliance

His fitness and the amount of time he seems to fall down like he's been shot and genially seem injured or in significant pain disproportionate to the level of contact made against him is a bit of a concern

But he's clearly good something special about him

I think it hasn't helped not having the right system, or the right personal around him to allow him to shine

We need to build our midfield around he and Le Celso, with someone who can do the work on and off the ball that will allow them to really shine. Hopefully Jose will be able to build tactics to facilitate this and get the right man in to do so also

Once we have a settled, coherent system, with full backs who can attack effectively, a DM who can hold the midfield down and our full compliment of attacking options making runs and space for Le Celso and Ndomebele to exploit, I think we can start to build something very effective, with Ndombele there as one of the most important pieces of the puzzle

The best thing Jose can do for him right now, is give the lad a run of games. Don't sit him down on the bench, just 'cos he didn't light it up against the Chelscum. The whole team looked a bit crap, and the tactics were just too deferential for any of our 'attacking' players to shine.

The more time we invest in him right now, the more it'll pay off next season. I fully expect that should he and Lo Celso remain injury free for the remainder of this season, and get a solid run of games under their belt, then they will hit the ground running next season.

That all being said... I still think it would have been the icing on the cake to add Bruno Fernandes to these two. Would've given us (potentially) one of the very best midfields in Europe.

Sadly, I think he's going to be fantastic at UTD. And if they bring in Grealish too... they will have a midfield that will rival anyone's in the PL.

We 100% should have cut our losses sooner with Erkisen and brought in Fernandez (or as you say even Grealish)

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started this!
Let me make it clear that I also hope that he becomes a superstar playing for us.
However I am not happy that we spent so much of our transfer budget on someone who was scouted by us. It meant we could not sign Bruno Fernandez and we didn't sign a back up striker.
This is one of the reasons that we are where we are and probably not be in Europe next year. If this makes everyone else happy - well not me.
Would people please understand where I am coming from.

I thought he was actually one of our better players v Chelsea.. He didn’t really have the options of the forward pass due to our lack of a target man - either drawing defenders to him to create space, or the hold up play - the problem being that we actually have good midfielders, but at the moment they are all very hit and miss from one game to the next. Plus the system we chose to play. Choosing that game to drop Dele and then to sit deep (low block or whatever) just didn’t work. We are better on the front foot, our keeper never gives our defenders confidence, our defenders are now slowing down with age, lack of a tough defensive midfielder, all these things go against us for a low block.. I think Mourinho was right in his first few games, fight fire with fire. Now we’ve lost our actual striker(s) we may only seem to have one option tho.

Atletico paid over 100m for Felix and he has done absolutely nothing this year. Wonder if there’s somebody called “Fernando Torres” on their forums posting this inane, repetitive, nonsensical drivel.

I just watched the tyre driving thing on twitter. He actually walks like someone that had Polio as a child. I actually find it really annoying like when he gets subbed off it just looks awful. I honestly wonder if that is a physiological thing or attitude thing. You know like as a kid when you’re being a bit of slob and your parents scream “ walk properly “ lol. I know ultimately if he does it on the pitch it doesn’t matter, I just find it annoying.
