Moura is a big game player and I think his work rate and pace on the counter is best deputized against big 6 sides. Against an Everton or lower sides with deep sitting midfielders, he has to pull out Messi levels of dribbling ability to create anything. It’s sad but he’s just not a player suited to quick passing possession football.

Bergwijn admittedly doesn’t press as well but has far more attacking nous and is a lot more intelligent. I’d love to see him form a partnership with our back-up striker in EL to gain some confidence and usurp Moura by January.. but I have a feeling Lucas is Mourinho’s Fellaini or Pandev.

You can put Bale out wide, and Son through the center. But I don't agree that Bale is only a winger.

Fully agree. Bale, Kane and Son are smart enough to allow them to play interchangeably. Giving them freedom to play off each other as dictated by circumstances makes it hard for opposing defenses to plan. Those three have the smarts to make strong diagonal and looping runs and i suspect that SB would do more of it if directed to do so.

I'm not sure that Steve is there yet for fully interchangeable play and know that Lucas, as much as i rate him can't play that way. But Befgwijn does seem to be a quick study and practicing continually with these guys can only raise his capabilities quickly. It's easy to forget he's 22.

Think he's going to be great but he was really really poor today - probably the worst game I can remember him having for us.

I might be imagining this, but I’m sure Hercules said something about him having minor hamstring issues last week.

I really hope his reported fitness issues are true because he was the biggest disappointment for me tonight. I expect so much more from him.

But if they are true, why was he even playing?

No preseason remember so these fringe players are still trying to find their form and fitness.

Not his finest performance but he's still working on his fitness and sharpness.

I've been cheering for him to get more chances but he was shit today. There were 3-4 times today where the ball got to him on the edge of the box and he just fucked around with it and let the opportunity to shoot go. Needs to get some sort of boot up the backside and some killer instinct when in those situations.

He's not fully fit, he was more loose in his first few games.

Definitely doesn’t look 100% but I like the way he looks after the ball. Complete opposite to Moura who passes it away like confetti

Think he needs this season to find himself. He is a very promising player who will benefit from the addition of Bale

22 year old lad in his first season in a new league, let’s give him time. If anyone is expecting him to be as good as Son is now then they are in for a lot of disappointment.

What must not be forgotten is that Son joined us aged 23, and his first season returned 8 goals in 40 games and he was a relative “disappointment” but look at him now, a genuine superstar. Stevie needs that time given to him to learn and grow as a player.
