Fully deserves a new deal. Just getting better and better. Jose is really finding a way to get the best out of him and Harry IMO.

i think he will benefit the most from Bale being in the team. Bale will be playing more like Kane in dropping deep to play the passes through behind the defence rather than being a runner and a player like Son will love the service he gets from both Kane and Bale.

Son drives Spurs to the top of South Korean popularity stakes

SEOUL (Reuters) - Son Heung-min has helped Tottenham Hotspur past Manchester United to become the most popular foreign club in South Korea with more than 20% of the nation now allied to the North London side, according to Nielsen Fan Insights.

In a graphic illustration of the selling power of a big name player, five years of Nielsen Fan Insights surveys show that Spurs had negligible support in the nation of 52 million before Son joined the club in 2015.

Since then, Son’s rise to the top of the English game has been matched by the popularity of his club in his homeland with Spurs moving steadily past Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona before eclipsing United in late 2018.

They have remained the most popular overseas club since and the most recent survey of South Koreans aged 16 to 69 gives them 21.4% support -- representing some 11 million fans -- compared to 6.1% for the second most popular club, United.

“The popularity of Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea perfectly illustrates the positive impact a standout player can have on a sports franchise in a market halfway around the world,” said Marco Nazzari, Managing Director, International at Nielsen Sports.

United’s previous popularity was also driven by a player, with midfielder Park Ji-sung’s arrival at Old Trafford in 2005 sparking major South Korean interest in the English top flight.

Although Park won a Champions League and four Premier League titles in seven years in Manchester, Son’s individual profile has far outstripped his fellow South Korea international both in England and back home.

Son has scored 59 goals in 164 Premier League matches for Spurs and last month became the first player from Asia to score four goals in an English top flight match with a brilliant display against Southampton.

With figure skater Kim Yuna retired and swimmer Park Tae-hwan out of the picture, Son is now South Korea’s number one sports personality and his face in advertisements and goals in the Spurs shirt are ubiquitous on local TV screens.

Levy has certainly faked up in not taking the squad there for at least one game in recent preseasons

I was there when Ledley lifted the Peace Cup in Seoul in 05

This story is everywhere today - club leak maybe to cheer everyone up after Sunday? Very much hope its true - certainly do not want to see him leaving next summer.
Definitely a club leak. Hope its not just to appease us though. Deserves a new deal.

Loyalty, love of the club, possibly Jose and the project seem to have convinced sonny. Please for the love of God win a trophy Tottenham. It would be tragic if sonny, kane, Lloris, toby don't win anything with the club considering their loyalty and performance levels over the years. Seeing jan leave without a trophy was sad enough.

Hopefully this could go some way in convincing Harry to commit beyond this season, though unlikely if we don’t win anything you would expect

I remember some saying we should sell Son as he is at his peak value and will only regress from now on due to his age. Madness!

'Tottenham set to tie Son Heung-Min down to new contract' sounds like we'd be forcing him to do something against his will. If it was Liverpool they'd be offering him a 'bumper deal' or some other rubbish. Anyway, I just hope he signs it.

He's world class along with Kane. If they keep up their form throughout the season they can both make the Balon D'or shortlist. We would need to win things to stand a chance of one of them winning it though. A new contract would be a massive statement.
