Yeah, I mean, I know he got an assist in the end today and very harshly had a goal ruled out against West Ham but he's offered very little since the return. As frustrating as Lucas was today, he looked to impose himself a lot more than Son did.

Still, with the way we're playing, and I even include Dele who's football sometimes I honestly can't stand but I'm not sure I lay the blame solely on them. I think this current team isn't an easy one to play in for an attacker.
I actually think we need to stop playing four attackers, play three with an extra midfielder in there to control possession better and we will attack far better I think.

100%. Although today showed we don't just need better control of possession, we need far better use of the ball too, collectively and individually.

I now feel tired of envisioning how certain setups may perform though, after today I just have a lot of doubt regarding this set of players.

Less Eriksen and with the addition of Gio & Bergwijn it’s the same side that’s been on the slide for ages

Not really surprising unfortunately is it!

Seems to have gained this undroppable status in our team in recent months. When we have our full squad available I don’t see why he should start every game if he isn’t on it like right now.

He is one of our best players but he is not a winger or midfielder. Asking him to perform those tasks will only disappoint you. He is a striker.

Agree with this. For all the people saying Kane isn't getting the service, the same is true for Son not being passed the ball in a position to shoot/score. I think Son's best using his pace on the break, but when we concede, go behind, and the opposition sit deep, he isn't the player to cut through a stubborn defence.

Needs to play high up the pitch in a 433 either as a wide forward or main striker.

He is being wasted in our current system.

Playing far too wide & had no shots on goal yesterday, ridiculous really, was the same vs Wham when he was basically playing LWB

Does anyone else not think that maybe he was sent to the North instead of the South for his 4 week holiday camp?

Would explain his last three performances.

That is all.
It goes back to the same argument. If he was a more consistent player then he wouldn't be at this shitfest of a team.

He has these spells and then all of sudden explodes for 10 matches and then back into another one of these spells. The only player who ever achieves consistency on a week by week basis is Kane when fully fit and that is why he will piss off shortly.

I agree to a point but he had three opportunities to go at Wan Bissaka against Utd and bottled all three.

He would require either a new attacking left-back or a total change of system to accommodate. Not saying he isn't a good player but he is very defensive orientated. I can understand why we hesitated plus he was over priced.

You're right.. I also think he does go through streaks which I guess is the downside.

Our players aren't playing freely and would fucking love them to

If the players are not going to get protection then we have to go back to having an enforcer.
Son and Alli are often targeted but refs are reluctant to give a series of free kicks or bookings, let alone sending the offenders off. It is hardly surprising the players lose interest.

Sissoko is certainly a pretty scary customer when things are getting heated, but isn't one to settle a score. Wanyama would actively police a game, and as they do, perhaps pre-empt trouble by getting stuck in first! He's the guy who hasn't been replaced and without him, Son, Alli, Moura, and perhaps even Kane, are going to get physically intimidated in many games.

Where Son is at fault is in helping out the LB. Teams target that side now, knowing that Sissoko just about holds our right side together. In the absence of anyone in midfield who can help out, the whole defensive unit needs to move left, and give Dier the license to get stuck in.
