Fingers crossed for him, I still think he could be great for Spurs, but consistent football and game time will help him.
I seem to remember him signing a six year contract, so I’d go as far to say we could loan him there for two years with a recall clause in case Madrid take back Sergio next summer, and have him return as 22 year old with three years left on his deal, two years experience in a top league and European football, ready to fight out out with hopefully Reguilón at left back or even replace him if, again, Madrid come calling.

Did not see that coming. Will definitely watch more Bundesliga games to see how he fares. Quick glance at Hoffenheim's last 4 matches and they seem to favor a 3412 or 343 formation, with Pavel Kaderabek starting most games as LWB.

Come on David, pluralising a club name? I know it’s Twitter but you should still maintain basic standards of written English.
It's perfectly OK to pluralise the names of sporting teams. That's convention. It's an exception to the rule that companies and other entities should be treated as singular.

I appreciate you write and edit for a living but I disagree, respectfully. In this instance he’s not referring to Hoffenheim, a collective of footballers, e.g. Hoffenheim have just beaten Bayern with a superb display, he’s referring to Hoffenheim, the club, and individual entity.

Source: the flogging I used to get in my previous legal career for making this exact mistake repeatedly in both letters and contracts.

I know what he's referring to but that's simply not convention. If he was referring to the corporate entity and using the suffix, sure. But almost every media outlet pluralises the names of sporting teams when they're used informally as he is.

Google "spurs record profits". You'll see that the vast majority of outlets use the plural even when referring to us as a club, rather than as a collection of players. That sort of usage is what makes it convention.

As with many "rules" of grammar, there isn't a wrong or right on this. It's simply usage.

I don't have any problem with using the singular, but to say the plural is wrong is, well, wrong.

As for a flogging from partners for alleged mistakes, I often get lawyers arguing with me about grammar. Doesn't make them right.

A very good response. Sadly this is one of many situations in life where I just don’t agree with either common convention or majority opinion. Yes, I’m a twat, for which I apologise. You however are both erudite and logical in your approach, which I applaud.

Hopefully makes a man of him, he's obviously talented but seems rather timid. He needs some fire in his belly, to grab a game and make the difference.

I don't see what bit you're on about.

If it's plural nouns, then I firmly believe all clubs are. Nothing annoys me more than "Man United is about to bid for..." rather than "Man United are about to bid for..."

Honestly, it really annoys me. I don't know why but I feel like it scrapes at my soul :ROFLMAO:

e.g.

"Do you know who City is playing today" ❌
"Do you know who City are playing today"✅

"Everton is top of the table"❌
"Everton are top of the table"✅

"Tottenham is signing someone"❌
"Tottenham are signing someone"✅

Good luck Sess. Hopefully he gets a lot of game time at LWB and comes back strong. Refusal to add a buy option shows how highly the club still value him.

Good move for Sessegnon.

German league are provided a good opportunity for quite a few English youngsters now.

Hopefully he really pushes on and reached he’s potential.

So excited for these youngsters to have game time, play and experience in other leagues, other clubs.

Really good move in these loans. Wasted that we stagnated for a few years on these.
