Aurier might not be your (collective) cup of tea but one thing you cannot accuse him of is not caring. One attribute I have admired about him, especially by playing on even when his Brother was killed, was his effort and die hard attitude, even when he was having brain farts.

Something else I observed on Sunday, Doherty struggled to run back to defend and was left for dead a couple times, where I do not believe Aurier would have. I will put it down to first game nerves and wont be a regular concern.

Probably more down to having zero pre season and not having the legs

In contrast to the Everton game, where we saw Davies drop back to form a back 3, today I felt Mourinho altered that slightly and it was Hojbjerg who was staying back to allow BOTH full backs to push forward rather than just Doherty as we saw against Everton. I believe this slight alteration could suit us well in the future to accomodate both Reguilon and Doherty’s attacking qualities:)

I think Doherty's positioning could prove to be a problem for us going forward. He's a good footballer but his best qualities are near the opponent's box and due to his lack of pace, if he gets that far forward as a RB he's always gonna struggle to recover (see Richarlison's 3 chances for Everton).

Now that we have a genuine attacking LB in Reguilon, to fit Doherty into the team either we have to make one of them play more defensively and nullify their best qualities or start playing 3 at the back, which I'm not too keen on.

Fingers crossed we can find a solution but there was always an element of risk bringing in a player who is such a specialist RWB who isn't particularly quick. He's definitely a unique and talented footballer though so I'm holding out hope - perhaps he just needs time to adapt to new teammates and a new system.
Plenty of teams play with 2 attacking fullbacks, so can we. It all just depends on the CBs and Hojbjerg picking up the slack

Yeah of course but most attacking fullbacks are a lot quicker than Doherty, hence he's a natural WB and excels when there's a third CB to cover the space he leaves behind.

Take away that cover and add another attacking FB to the mix...we're left very open down Doherty's side everytime he decides to attack.

Not necessarily disastrous but I think it's something every team we face will seriously look to exploit.

I get a funny feeling if Aurier ends up staying and is rotated with Doherty he could force a change of opinion.

The risk is that we don’t have a manager or coaching team to install the necessary tactics to take advantage of our players’ strengths while mitigating their weaknesses.

Doherty will score goals for us, so we need to be organised enough that when he’s caught upfield someone covers for him.

after the hilarious comments from the wolves forum when doherty was joining, they're now calling jota their '4th choice winger' since LFC links have surfaced

I'm not sure how we did it, but he seemed to run to byline then kick the ball into the box. Unbelievably it met the head of an attacker. I'm not sure our front three have adapted to this new approach, hopefully in time they'll learn to attack these 'crosses'.
Gary Neville built an entire career on that. I'm just surprised that so many other right backs haven't, especially ours.

Wolves have replaced him with Semedo, from Barcelona, for £37m. Any thoughts on who's ended up with the better RB?

Can Semedo defend? Serious question, I haven't seen much of him.

Also that's 3 x what we paid for Doherty. Ridiculous amounts for Wolves to be spending on a full-back.
