I am not sure Mourinho is picking him for creating and scoring.
I think he is one of first names on teamsheet because he is our first line of defence, a winger than presses quite well, that has a turn of pace.
This.

Did ok today he's a great team player but needs quality around him as 0 goals in 22 PL games is not good enough.

Ajax aside, I think he's shown that he is best used as a super sub.

When he comes on fresh into the game in the second half, his electric pace and engine can be an absolute game changer.

He's too one dimensional for what we need. Probably not fair on him that Kane and Son link up so well, but I thought Lamela completely showed Lucas up when he came on. He complimented the other two and the rest of the team imo.

Moura is not contributing enough to justify a starting position based on the last 8-10 games. He may tear around the pitch like a headless chicken, but his lack of productivity with the ball is sub standard.Bergwijn is a far better option.

Even with Bale I would not be surprised to see Jose still picking Moura for the starting 11.

I'm not worried. I'm very confident that when Bergwijn and/or Bale is fit Lucas will not play much.

I'm also confident that Lucas will not complain. He will train hard and play hard whenever he is asked to.

Even if he has played a lot under Mourinho I think the fact that we bought Bergwijn and got Bale (even if that might be a bit random and not planned) tells us quite a lot about how Mourinho feels about Lucas. But I think Lucas like Dier are players Mourinho now feels he needs. And I kind of understand why. Second half against Everton and first half against Southampton he got to be thinking where are the players that gives me some !%!%"¤!? Lucas might at least try to go passed someone occasionally instead of just hiding.

My guess is that Lucas will soon be a squad player and time will run out quickly for Dier as well if someone like Dias comes and Dier keeps on making mistakes like against Southampton. I don't think Mourinho is that stubborn with "favourites".

First column, third row... really quiet game from him. Essentially absent.

Oh wow, this is quite interesting read. Lamela had almost the same amount of passes in only 30 mins than Moura had in 60 mins. Lo Celso scoring high when brought on. Ndombele more suitable in a higher role maybe?

Thought he had a really good game tonight. I really love seeing him glide past players.

He works very hard from a defensive perspective but tonight he was also a menace going forward and scored a well deserved goal too.

I agree.

He isn’t the most effective player when it comes to possession or converting chances into goals but I think he plays such an important role in our squad.

He always looks one of the fittest and sharpest players on the pitch, and he’s so rarely injured. Also in games like tonight against weaker opposition when we’ve rotated he’s often our most dangerous player with his pace and direct style.

I know he’s not going to start often in the big games in the league but I think he’s a vital player.

The frustrating thing is he doesn’t play with the same intent every week. I’m not talking about effort, it seems more a question of belief. A decisive Lucas is a good Lucas, when he backs his pace and drives at people you can see a top player in there, we need to see that more consistently

Yes it’s a strange one, he really is terribly hot and cold.

Some of his ball control from Hart's kick outs was insane.

Played really well.

Made me laugh how he instantly controlled 2 balls that came down with snow on in the space of a few minutes and then a minute after that, a side foot pass from 5 feet away bounces off him straight to the opposition. Possibly sums up his time here but I love the guy. Always will. He can have 624 off days after what he did against Ajax.
