Worth mentioning that iGi's post has the same emoji as Joe Hart's instagram post this morning.

I wish him the best of luck and hope he can get some confidence and form back. Another pragmatic signing.

Anyone remember the Burnley game at Wembley where he played against us. I think it must of been the last time he did. They were time wasting from about the tenth minute, taking ages to take throw ons and goal kicks. He should of got booked in the first half but obviously as usual the ref let him off until the last ten minutes when he was finally booked. Eriksen scored with about 2 minutes left and then he was running around like a madman trying to do everything as quick as possible. It was just one of those games where everyone in the stadium was audibly laughing at him.

Just something I remember. Not meant to be a negative, if anything it shows he carries out a manager’s orders to a tee.

Joe comes across really well in his interviews, same with højbjerg, can see what mourinho is trying to do, hopefully has a positive impact on the young keepers/young players in general coming through and maybe just me but reckon José prefers him to gazza! We will see on that can’t wait for the season especially after what trix said about some more signings coming in (albeit not superstars some may want) COYS?

Something to note.....

Listening to the View from the Lane podcast (very good pod btw) and Charlie Eccleshare was telling a story about when Mark Schwarzer came in as backup to Petr Cech at Chelsea. Schwarzer explained how empowered and important Mourinho made him feel. JM told MS that the players all respected him and he should make sure he talked to all of them more and be as involved as possible. It made him feel really valued as part of the squad.

I think JM has the same thing in mind for Joe.

Yep 100% this. These types of characters in the make-up of a squad can make a huge difference, you and I might not notice it because we don't see behind the scenes (until ALL or NOTHING is released) but the conversations Hart will have with the other players etc all go a long way to helping develop the mentality and togetherness and belief in the squad.

I'm not sure if Poch is to blame or Levy or Recruitment team or all of them but the squad management over the last few years has been awful, its as if none of them are thinking this through logically. The HG quote is an issue so why on earth do we need 2x foreign back-up goalkeepers on decent wages? 2x Top goalkeepers is enough and 3rd choice should be a young HG player, if they're not good enough then sign someone who is HG and who is good enough.

Signing Hart and selling Gazzaniga if that is our plan makes sense on so many levels in the short to medium term, sure it would leave us with Lloris and Hart both the wrong side of 30 but they both have another good 3-4 years left in them at the top level i'd say, Lloris especially and that buys us time to sign a replacement but it also makes our squad more sensible with not having 3 non HG goalkeepers.

I think Jose has to take some big credit here for coming in with his detailed dossiers and starting to re-shape and re-build the squad in a sensible pragmatic way. People might not like his football but he knows how to build a squad with a combination of the right players both from a quality perspective and also a character perspective.

More than anything over the past 10-20 years Spurs have lacked a strong captain and we've certainly lacked 'leaders' in our team, we've always been too soft and that is a huge reason as to why we've not gotten over the line time and time again.

For all the millions City spent on quality players the most important ones for them have been Kompany, Hart, Yaya Toure, KDB and David Silva and not because of the quality on the pitch but because like them or not they're leaders and winners.

Its no coincidence that Jose is addressing this issue by bringing in Hoyjbjerg (former club captain of Southampton aged 24 so clearly a leader and listen to his interview on signing he said "we want 11 leaders on the pitch", this kind of thing is massive. And now signing Joe Hart the same, again like him or not he's a character and a leader and he's been there and won things.
Adding King to our coaching staff, another leader.
Eric Dier new contract - leader.

I could go on but for anyone who listens to the high performance podcast with Jake Humphries where he interviews former high performing sports stars more than anything they say hard work, discipline, dedication, repetition and mental strength are key to success, you're not just born with talent you need to work at it and you need players within a team to drive each other forwards.

I'm very optimistic about the signings we are making considering how difficult it must be to do business in this Covid affected transfer market.

Put Hugo or Gazza in a West Ham or Torino defence and see how they fair. Hart is a model professional for the game and if he's in as a number two behind Hugo and if we sell Gazza then those two will be brilliant experience for any youth goalkeepers or young signings to work with. The experience and work ethic Hart will add to the dressing room will be great for team morale.
Joe Hart has not been signed as a 'number two' or a 'number three' or a 'number one' but simply as a goalie on a two year contract. That doesn't imply that Paulo Gazzaniga is being moved on at all. I expect to see all three goalkeepers play for Spurs this coming season.

I don’t disagree however given Gazza’s age and the fact we could get a decent fee for him, I don’t think we would rule out selling him. It was purely speculation however I did read in an article by the the times IIRC that we’re willing to sell. Coincided with our HG numbers it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get another home grown keeper but too big of an ask currently.

I reckon the plan will be to keep Gazza for one more season, send Whiteman and Austin out on loan for the season.

Next season, we'll look to sell Gazza and promote have either Whiteman or Austin as 3rd/2nd choice, depending on who performed better on loan.

Obviously if someone comes in with a good offer for Gazza, we'll probably take it - but just don't think we're actively looking to sell him just yet.

That sounds like a pretty realistic plan. I’ve no idea what Whiteman and Austin are like but a loan move would definitely be beneficial so see if there’s anything about them.
