No issues with Winks on the third goal.

Actually though for the second goal, history just repeated itself, we have seen it on loads of occasions, and have conceded goals and penalties before due to it.
Winks is in effect is just standing watching for long time the winger playing tricks against full back, instead of helping full back, he is just marking space, not cutting out channels, basically just in no-mans land observing. If he had gone to help chances are cross would not have come in for Sanchez to score

Exactly right, this is what people should be criticising - not the 3rd goal.

We’ll live to regret loaning out Skipp. He’s exactly what we needed to see out the game today. A calm head, tactically disciplined and actually capable of playing a defensive role in midfield.

Personally wish Skipp had stayed so we could sell Winks and use the money we got for him towards Skriniar.

note sure about the calm part. he was anything but calm and tactically disciplined for England u21 the other night

Fans do like a scape-goat.

I’m really sick of it, I get that people need to vent. But some of the comments in here are so over the top. Is he the reincarnation of Inesta and Xavi combined? No. He’s nowhere near as awful as people in here would like the think though.

Finally brought myself to watching the replay highlights. Whoever says Winks couldn’t hoof it clear is wrong. No idea why he tried to be clever and control it.

Way too much emphasis going into the lack of Winks not clearing it, you'd think he was in his own box going by the reaction off here and presented them with an easy chance, not much you can do about a speculative effort that flies in the top corner, Lanzini doesn't score that 99 times out of 100.

In some games he is a solid option (never at the same time with Sissoko though). I think he could have a good game next to Pierre on Thursday for example. And honestly I thought bringing him on is no the worst of ideas. I expected a bit more control in our possesion and passing game, as well as fresh legs to close areas down. It did not work out. And thats the problem with him for the last months. He is not reliable.

I am frustrated to a point, that if i ever see Winks and Sissoko playing besides each other, i'm very tempted to switch off my TV from now.

Great squad options but bordering criminal to pair them together in any time in a match, again and again and again and again.

Winksy should have belted that ball inside the West Ham half as it was last secs of the game. How to understand what he was thinking.

I like winks and he is suited to certain games, however as a sub I think he gives you nothing.
He will never come on and change a game and conversely you can't trust him defensively to see out a game, yes he can retain possession, but most teams like West ham bypass midfield and pump balls into the box (which is where we concede most goals when in top)
I would much rather have alli on the bench instead, at least he is solid in the air defensively and can offer a different threat going forward.

I do think he could have cleared it but that aside the reality is, your team is 3-0 up and you're brought on as the midfielder to dictate the tempo, get on the ball and slow things down and you lose 3-3, that's not good for your future chances of being trusted in the team. We lost a lot when Ndombele came off, he was running the show.

You're right. We all have a right to absolutely shit all over our players regardless of whether anyone who has played the game at that level thinks what said player did was fine under the circumstances.

It reflects brilliantly on us as a fan base. (y)

Give it a rest, people have as much a valid opinion as you do, just because a few ex players have a similar opinion to you doesn’t make your opinion a fact, it just means you have people who think the same way as you.
Should I now think Bale is shit and not worth playing because one of the worlds greats has suggests that? No my opinion is different, but doesn’t mean any thing less cause I don’t agree with Zidane.

Here I disagree with you again, EVERY clubs fan base criticises players, it’s not an exclusive Tottenham Hotspur thing. Check on how the Gooners treated Xakha, UTD with Maguire etc.

I don't know how I suddenly became President of the Harry Winks fan club here becuase I'm not.

I just know bullshit scapegoating from people who don't know what they're fucking talking about.

Maybe Winks was in the wrong position when that second ball 50/50 arrived I don't know - what I DO know (and former premiership footballers agree) is that he never had the option to just hoof it out. He won a very tight 50/50 and got unlucky that Lanzini hit a fluke.

Blame him for stuff but you look fucking ludicrous for blaming him for this. He's Harry Winks - he can't transcend the laws of biology and physics ffs. :shifty:
50/50 have you ever played the game to know what a 50/50 actually is lol

They aren't the same type of players, but it's Skipp we need...

Not sure why or based on what we think Winks can do a job defensively.
Honestly have no idea what our cm should look like if Sissoko and Winks are the furthest back cm's
Jose values experience most. He wont give an academy player much playing time if they dont have 1st team experience. Hence why Skipp left the club on loan and Winks is still our player despite mountains of evidence that he really is quite terrible. Well that and baldy loves him because he apparently runs alot.

Winks is played out of position as a DM for us becuase honestly, he doesnt have the qualities required to play in his natural position for a premier league side, let alone one of our stature. He cant pass forward, cant dictate anything, cant play anything in the final 3rd. He can only recycle the ball to retain possession. Playing in an advanced CM role doesnt suit him.

Of course they weren't but when you have an agenda against players everything is put under a microscope and maximised x 1000

No agenda from me on Winks, always love seeing him have a good game but he should have just cleared it properly.

This is not a 50/50 and anyone thinks he couldn’t have cleared this has lost the plot
