there were 4 or 5 others who had a chance to intervene after that. Dele lost a 50-50 challenge at the edge of the box, Salah held off both Toby and Sanchez and passed to Firmino who duped Japhet. Quite the stretch to pin it on Winks.

Let's face it, Winks has a large amount of people who sit here with their wank socks and baited breathe hoping for a mistake from him. Then they'll counter by claiming we think he's the next Pirlo which isn't the case, he's just a good squad player and he isn't the cause of most of the worlds conflicts like some seem to believe.

well I said in the thread he's regressed since his last injury, but I sure wouldnt blame him for the goal. and as someone else pointed out, who hasnt looked worse lately?

Yeah, I think Winks like others has suffered from a lack of stability in his position. We keep asking players to be square pegs in round holes. We seem to have 4/5 midfielders who can play next to a DM but no DM. Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sissoko, Winks and now seemingly Gedson Fernandes. Also linked with Soumare it's strange. Not sure what the plan is.

I've been one of his biggest critics lately but he did show alot of work tonight

I thought he played well. You can see he’s not full of confidence but that was his best game for a while. Not easy playing I. Midfield with another midfielder in Eriksen who doesn’t want to get his knees dirty.

I thought winks played well. Lacked support but was surprisingly strong and as usual tried moving the ball forward. He desperately needs another midfielder that wants to play for the club next to him. He needs someone to help him mix the play and help with the transition.

I don't understand the blame for the goal. So many opportunities to clear the ball and we didn't.

He did well, Eriksen kind of abandoned him at times last night.

One thing I would like to bring up is how badly he telegraphs some of his first time passing. What I mean is that the opposition know when
he is just going to bounce the ball back and press straight away on to the next player. So whilst Winks does well to make the option the pass is very easy to read and plan for.

There was a point in the first half where he could draw in 2-3 players with a touch but instead, obviously shows he's going to play it first time and to whom. Salah reads this and before Winks makes the pass pressures Rose leading to a sequence of passes under pressure until Aurier eventually gives the ball away.

Hope he hasn't picked up too bad a knock, seemed to be pretty upset/annoyed. Didn't look great.

Thought he was solid tonight before going off.

I’d like to see him tried in a midfield three with Lo Celso and a proper defensive midfielder.

It didn't look good, same reaction the last time he was out for a while.

But why did he try and walk off...

I’d like to see him tried in a midfield three with Lo Celso and a proper defensive midfielder.

Or with Ndombele. 3 hard working cm's

Agree with the comments about him playing well and forming a partnership with Gio. Let’s hope he’s back for City.
