I reckon it's down to all that one-legged jumping over tiny hurdles, that they were so proudly showing off on social media! ;)

In all honesty, when it comes to GLC, we've got the squad depth too. I'm still pissed off beyond belief, but we've got three options for the number 10 role in Lamela, Eriksen and Alli, so I can't complain. If we intended to play him in the centre of the park however then that's a different story, so I hope Ndombele is fit for the weekend.

It's not that we desperately need him to play right now, but that we need him integrated as soon as possible so that he can get into it properly. Now that's fucked.

I get that we're all frustrated that he's gonna be out for a while, but I would guess Poch was pretty keen for him to go play with Argentina. The issue hasn't been that he wasn't fit before, it was that he missed out on pre-season and was adapting to the club. Going and playing a couple of games with Argentina would have allowed him to build on match fitness, just unfortunate to pick up an injury.

You know they're all injured, right?

I mean I do get the funny/Spursy side of this, of course, but TN and Sessegnon are training now so will be back in the frame either this weekend or next.

Ndombele on his own improves us a lot.

The way I see it, his addition means none of our attacking options (see last season with Eriksen and Dele) will have to drop back into central midfield this season because we have three solid options for two positions in Ndombele, a fit Winks and Sissoko. We then have others like Dier, Wanyama and Skipp who are very good 4th/5th choices.

This means that Dele, Eriksen, Sonny, Moura, Lamela and Lo Celso are the 6 options for the 3 behind Kane. You could even include Sessegnon as a 7th option there. So, we have more than enough to cope with this injury.

Had Eriksen left then, yeah, I’d be a lot more concerned.

To be honest, I’m just sad I won’t get to watch Lo Celso in the team until, I assume, mid-November. It’s a real shame for him, and as a fan you want to get your new signings on the pitch. Like getting a new toy at Christmas and immediately disregarding all of your other great toys because of the shiny new one!

So, to suggest we will struggle to cope (which has come across a bit from fans) I just don’t agree at all. We’ll be fine.

*edit*

Just to clarify. I mean, obviously the full back situation is hilarious and I can’t guarantee that we won’t defend like Swindon in 93/94, but Lo Celso can’t play there so, you know, whatever.

Why did we allow him to go on international duty? Need to start acting like a big club now.

This is spot on. Stupid and short sighted of the player and the coaching staff. For of all things, a friendly. The guy needed to stay back and focus on getting himself match fit to play for the team that pays him a shit ton of money. I’m sorry but this makes me really irritated ?. We need to be a bit more selfish from time to time. And fine, if the guy had been starting and flying from the start of the season, and settled in his new surroundings, then by all means, go play for ur country. But that wasn’t the case on either front. And now he’s out for a spell. And won’t see any significant contributions from him until December at the earliest.

It's not a one sided affair where Spurs get to say to the international coaches that such and such player will not be showing up for international duty. I saw this firsthand when I interned at a couple MLS teams. If a player has been called up and wants to skip international duty due to injury, the physios at the club then send the international team physios the players tracked injury assessment and progression files. Additionally, the player then has to let the international team know that he is injured etc. and wont be able to link up with the team. Now if the player wants to skip the international fixtures to say better adjust to his new club, he would then simply reach out to his international team coaches and have a chat with them.

'It was the right thing to do' - Dier defends decision to opt out of England Under-21 squad | Goal.com
Tottenham defender Eric Dier has defended his decision to opt out of the England Under-21 squad and insisted he has not snubbed his country

Dier in 2014.

"I spoke to Gareth Southgate and we were in complete agreement that it was the right thing to do," Dier told the club's official website."We had an open conversation and I think he was happy that I could be so honest with him. If he wasn't completely fine with this then I would never have asked because I would never want to put him in a difficult position."He has been fantastic with the whole situation and is really easy to talk to. I certainly would never want to give him or anyone else the wrong impression. "It is not a case that I don't want to play for England, that couldn't be further from the truth.

It seems our players really want to represent their countries.

Is a hip injury likely to be muscle related or an impact injury. The knocks he seem to take in the game were on his ankle ?

Considering he's on loan can we sent him back to Betis for rehab? They'll probably do a better job with him than us. If I took a dishwasher out on loan and it started playing up a few weeks in I'd send it back to be fixed. I rather like the idea of Betis getting him back broken and saying "fuck sake you only had him a few weeks". We'll just make out we didn't do anything wrong, followed the user manual but he started spazzing out for no reason.

That wasn't the initial statement you made - it was more 'it only happens to us' that I disputed.

I will concede however that this is particularly annoying and concerning as hip injuries tend to be difficult to overcome along hence maybe a longer lay off period to make sure Lo Celso's not rushed back and this turns out a stop start season write off for him.

It doesn't really matter, but I didn't say it only happens to us. Just that it always seems to happen to us. Which it would be hard for anyone to argue that it doesnt.

There must be some injury table stats out there. It must have been years since we had a fully fit squad

I'm sure Lord levite would love to be able to introduce a 60 day cash back warranty clause when negotiating all future signings!

Always good when you smash out £150m on three of the most exciting young talents in Europe and then never get to see any of them play. :)

You couldn't write it. The delays to actually securing the signings followed by their injury layoffs and unsettled team behind closed doors - I'm really not that bothered by what we do this side of Christmas at the moment.
