I am sure the Le Celso deal will go through before the window closes, Betis have already signed his replacement and they probably want this deal to go through as much as us ! lol. The delay is frustrating tbh but there is no point in blaming Levy as it might well be Betis that are playing silly buggers. Just Imagine a midfield with Eriksen, Winksy, N'Dombele and Le Celso ! COYS
You forgot big Moose!

Do ALL the other teams have chairman with a certain reputation. He’s bound to have questions asked, defending him is one thing but being blind to the fact that he brings a lot of it into himself is another.

This, this and this. There is a pattern of behaviour there over many years which some people seem determined to wilfully ignore. That's not to say that every failed transfer is down to Levy but fuck me he has form.

This is pretty much the issue with him.

Whilst he's an absolutely fantastic businessman who has undeniably raised our stature and profile off the field, and has got some good deals over the line in terms of recruitment, his pride to be the best negotiator in the deal is what puts us in these situations.

Should he just pay the 75m? Well, no, that wouldn't be right but it's the mindset of him not being seen to have given in and 'lost' the negotiation that is holding us back. It's backfiring now more than in the past as the climate has changed - clubs refuse to bend on their player estimation but neither will Levy.

The only loser though will be him if he can't find a way to start becoming less stubborn, otherwise he will lose the best manager we've had in years and then things will really start to become messy. He can still win negotiations simply by getting what Poch has asked for.

I think it's different though when both clubs have supposedly agreed a fee and then the selling club ups their asking price? Just depends whether or not we believe that to be true.

In this deal, maybe that's the case. But we've had countless examples over the years where we had a massive difference in valuation of a player and rather than increase it to something close to the asking price, he only offered a small amount more or refused to raise the offer.

The selling club may have relented or they may have rejected the new offer, who knows, but we never know cause generally he's so stubborn with his value.

Long and the short of it - just pay what they want thus smoothing the process and everyone wins, right?

Ricky Sacks is so tiring.

-Posts something positive
-You know he's probably massively spun the info but you want it to be true
-You look for it but it's not easy to find because he's plucked it from the dark web or something
-You either give up looking or do indeed find out it's a massive exaggeration

Edit: Andrew Gaffney going in on him now

Guess Dean isn't the only one in the family that is Well 'ard.

I hate agreeing with @THFCSPURS19, but he is 100% right about Sacks.

Way too anxious about this. Honestly believe that this is the only player we need now for this window. It is the difference between a good and bad window. It’s also a huge indicator of our genuine ambitions.

SC accountants out in force claiming £5-£10m as “not a lot of money”

What a time to be alive.

Like someone saying, actually even though we said our house is £600k, it’s now going to cost you £700k. Which, you know, you just gotta pay up.

So besides him climbing on a coach to go and play golf (this morning, right?) there is nothing new one way or the other in this transfer.

Is there a printed 'highest' bid to date on this saga?

No need to panic Mr Mannering. Only another 41 pages and we have reached 400 and surely he would have signed by then

Betis want a price we're not prepared to pay, hence the stand-off.

Either we increase or they decrease or it's not going to get done, it's that simple. They have to sell, we have a deadline to buy. As was said many weeks ago, poker it is which gets increasingly fraught the closer the deadline comes.

Nothing more to be said really until one of these happens. Got deadline day smell all over it.

First point, totally agree.....the gap must be significant.

Second point, totally disagree......meeting close to an asking price on one transfer is not going to turn the public perception of Daniel Levy in to a ‘premium paying transfer bitch’ forever more, give him some credit.

The fact we are in the PL ensures £XXm is added to the price regardless.

Of course a PL club already gets asked for a higher fee than a team from anywhere else, they know we're flush with cash.

But as soon as we start flinging it about and aren't seen to be tough negotiators clubs are going to take the piss more than they already do.

We bid what Betis want and suddenly Fulham aren't budging on their valuation, and it will spiral. How do people not get this?
