Lo Celso isn't as good as Eriksen and Ndombele IMO should be an improvement on Dembele so net evens out, but I suppose thats a pretty basic way of looking at it.

Still need funds for a RB, backup striker, & DM.

We shall see!

18/19 - Broken wantaway Dembele (left in Jan), Below par 'head turned' Eriksen

19/20 - 22yo hungry beast in Ndombele, 23yo hungry Lo Celso

I'd hope that would be more than evening out, but I do concede Eriksen is a world class player. That said Lo Celso ticks all the boxes whilst seeming to be more tenacious, and a better dribbler.

Sessegnon adds good squad depth and looks likely.

Maxi Gomez, Bergwijn and of course Bale look like decent attacking upgrades we are keeping tabs on.

RB is the weird one in that it's so quiet. I'd have thought we'd be in the conversation for Meunier considering the price and our history with PSG.

I think DM ends up being the one that falls by the wayside, but as important as the position is in the modern game, I think we can overcome it especially if we thicken the midfield and get a proper RB.

I have a feeling Toby may end up seeing his last year out saving us needing a new CB.

Obviously being Spurs it's a concern whether we can get it all done but we have had busy windows in the past too, especially when coinciding with a big sale.

If think Lo Celso as an Eriksen replacement is as good as we could hope for. If Eriksen wants to leave after being a part of a team that made the Champions League final there really isn't much we can do more to sway his decision making processes.

Lo Celso in for Eriksen, Ndombele the long term Dembele replacement, hopefully a top right back to come in to offer more quality down that side and preferably a WF to offer competition behind Kane.

I would personally rather see a WF come in to offer competition behind Kane, knowing that in Lucas & Son we have someone who can play up top if needed. If Toby goes we would probably need to go into the market for another centreback.

Lo Celso for me would be an excellent way to limit the damage caused by Eriksen wanting off and all in all if that kind of window were to happen it would more than make up for our goings on over the last two windows.

I personally think Lo Celso and Ndombele for Eriksen is a net improvement, especially if Poch persists with the 3 man midfield he's been toying with this season. However you are right in that on top of that we probably still need another attacking option and/or backup ST, another DM, as well as the obvious RB upgrade.

If we can wrap up Lo Celso, Ndombele and Sessegnon this month I'll be feeling a lot more comfortable about us getting the rest done. That seems to be what media/ITK are suggesting our plan is.

Re the bit in bold, i’m cautious on making a call like that as I remember many similar views in these forums around the time we sold Bale.

We needed a WF replacement and a striker. Both came in with a lot of optimism and reputation.

Three months into the season the new WF resembled a pelican who’d accidentally teleported onto a glacier full of polar bears, and the striker looked like he just wanted to have a good cry.

I am sure you’re right but this memory still haunts me.

Completely agree that Lo Celso is the perfect replacement for Eriksen, Ndombele is the perfect replacement for Dembele. If the club can pull those deals off then hats off to them thats fantastic. But even with prime Eriksen & Dembele we needed more quality, hopefully we can bring that in.

The main difference (I hope) is that we are a much stronger squad now than we were post-Bale under AVB. Plus IMO striker is the hardest position to buy and we are sorted there already. Losing Modric, VDV and Bale in quick succession completely killed us, and Bale totally carried us in that final year.

Ndombele and Lo Celso are serious prospects and look made for the PL and us, I hope!

I'm preferring to think of the Liverpool model than the Baldini model, cheers for reminding me of those dark days.

Haha me too, mate. Me too!

Can’t help it though. This club has violated my dreams so many times

I understand your concerns but I think this is different on a number of levels.

Firstly, both Lo Celso and Ndombele appear to be Poch's primary targets. Therefore Poch will have already identified how he will integrate and use these players into the squad. Lamela wasn't a WF, and if we'd identified him as such we were very very wrong.

Secondly, it's quite clear now that AVB had identified Hulk, Moutinho, etc as his primary targets and had to settle for others, although I'm sure some were still his picks. AVB in turn had no idea how to integrate these players into the squad. Lamela was barely used, Eriksen wasn't used to full effect and he was unable to use the team to Soldado's strengths.

A clearer vision of what we are signing these players for and how we will use them will make a world of difference.

Yeah, you’re most likely right. It’s us though so, you know, i’m not totally releasing the hope and expectation hand-break yet! ;)

Fair play about being cautious with new signings, but it's a different situation.

Bale was carrying us after Christmas in that season, scoring for fun and tearing teams to bits.

If it wasn't for him, AVB wouldn't have made it to the summer of 2013 at Spurs.

[Diario de Sevilla] understand Tottenham Hotspur are the only club to have made a ‘firm offer’ for Giovani Lo Celso.

It’s stated Real Betis are trying to ‘resist’ Spurs, which could suggest that the €60m offer is tempting, despite them wanting more for the player.

We aren’t going to sign him until Argentina are dumped out of the Copa America, if they fail to get out of the group (highly unlikely) that will be the 23rd of June. So probably at least another week to get the deal done

Why can't we sign him before/during Copa America?

Its like with every transfer we wanna do theres something that delays it by a month ffs ?
Knowing our luck Argentina will win the bloody thing with Lo Celso as player of the tournament, scoring a bicycle kick in the final that's declared goal of the century and broadcast on national news worldwide. Barca will offer £80 million and sign him 3 hours after the tournament finishes.

We may be the only ones to have made an official offer but Betis and LoCelso's agent will be making sure everybody out there knows the details and the time frame. Very little goes under the radar.

That's a lot of money they want for him if that is the case. Does anyone think he is worth that much?
