I don’t think Jose would consistently play him there as he ain’t a typical Jose midfielder. Only way I can see him fitting into the side is on the right hand side front 3 but surely there are better options to buy for that position for the price we would have to pay for him.
Like Cesc was?

Lo Celso could easily play in the pivot alongside Dier. He's just as sturdy as Winks and better defensively than both him or Sissoko.

We think a lot of him as a player at the club and we will give him the platform he requires to succeed.
He is well regarded by all including Jose and definitely not looking to give back.
Hope this helps clear up our thinking as it stands today. :)

All of a sudden I’m not worried at all about him. Cheers for the info mate ?

The manager can only play 11 players. We’ve won 4 out of 5 games starting those players. People are getting concerned over nothing.

I understand some of the frustration surrounding Lo Celso (and Ndombele), meant to be the new fresh face that would help stop the rot, barely getting any playing time while we're plodding around in midfield with the usual suspects who all have serious flaws to their game. It's very frustrating that we've pushed the boat out on two midfielders and a wide man and all three of them have struggled with injuries and lack of fitness since arriving.

But mostly, this. The United game was terrible but looks like an anomaly as things currently stand.

Thanks JJ. Time to stop being worried. He will get his time..

Exactly. I havent really focused on Mourinho's team selections/tactics at previous clubs in that much detail but I'm assuming he sometimes changes the team/tactics to fit opponents.

We've a lot of hard games coming up at home in the new year. I suspect he will be used more in those harder games because its more important to keep the ball in those matches.

Using Jose's terminology, he can easily play in his double 6, 8 or 10 positions. I'd love him in a double 8 system.

I just hope Gio is patient enough and doing some hard work on the training ground.
Excited to see him and other fringe players on Wednesday.

This. The fact that Dele has shown the biggest improvement overall under Jose means that we can take our time with Lo Celso. It’s not as if we’re struggling to create chances ( apart from Utd).

I think Dele’s change back to a no. 10, Ndombele’s creative potential and Lo Celso means we can let Eriksen go and if we get anything for him in Jan use the money for other positions.

Good to hear jj's positive update. I am of the opinion GLC could easily play in the 2 in front of back 4 as well and his adaptability should make him important player for Jose.

I think is very much a big key to his potential future at Spurs. With patience, yes in my mind he can get there. But there is no way he'll walk into our PL starting line up right now, and he'll have to be fine with that or not sign permanently. Right now, he can play in the midfield centre. Maybe in the future, yes I think so. But that needs hard work.

Thought he was with us for a year with an obligation to make it permanent if we secure CL qualification ?

Spurs having an obligation to buy at a specific price in the future does not mean the transfer is set in stone and *will* happen regardless of eventualities. The player can, I would expect, chose not to sign permanently. I mean obviously right now he as a long term contract with Betis and a loan contract with Tottenham, that has to be the case or there's no "loan". So the player has to be onboard at the point in the future of trying to make the deal permanent, I would assume.

I expect it's a combination of us having a bloated squad, Gio still learning about England, and Jose trying to stick with a system and players that have brought him a reasonable amount of success in his first few games. Why fix it if it ain't broke? Especially when we are still desperate for results.

In a few months time it's likely that all three of those situations will improve for him. As long as Mourinho likes him as a footballer i'm not worried.
