He’s doing well to not show his frustration given so many of us on here feel this way he must be really frustrated but he seems to be just getting his head down and doing his best for the few mins each time which he is given.

I really really hope we keep him and don’t sell him and think Kulu as back-up to madison is the answer as if we are serious about challenging on all 4 fronts next season then Kulu as n.o10 is not the answer however Gio is a very very capable option to rotate with Maddison.

Messi loves Gio and Messi knows a player.

At the moment Gio is levels above Deki in the number 10 role. Such a shame there's not a year's option left on his contract to give us more time to see if he can shake off the injury bug. I'd love him to stay but would be shocked if he does.

Funnily enough he is a better player in Anges system then Madison and kulu ( midfield role ) , love the way he’s always looking for the first time pass and isn’t scared to put himself about , however his injury record is shocking and his numbers for an attacking player aren’t great so I would be surprised if we kept him here next season and wouldn’t be surprised if he was a great success in another league .

Unfortunately Gio is targeted as he appears to have weakness in his cancels and shins. The tackle on him was a straight red and it was scandalous that var never interfered. It appears that he and Madders are not getting the protection they deserve. The constant nibbling, tapping at the ankles and Achilles by the opposition is constantly ignored by the officials and it takes its toll on them. The frustration was shown by madders with his tummy tickle on Yates.

Got 100% pass completion and drew 3 fouls as well which is helpful when seeing out a game.
That’s the key difference between him a maddison right now. He hits the first time balls into space so much it keeps the attack fluid and moving, countless times maddison turns back or tries a holiday pass when it’s not needed.

Yeah he properly throws himself about and into tackles too, he gives his all and tracks back a lot. It’s impressive how hard he’s working given his lack of minutes.
Newcastle will come at us, so I think Benta and Gio playing on the break to do the quick intricate passing in midfield to get us to break quickly will help no end.

Yates is a ****. Should have been sent off in the first match for 'brandishing an imaginary yellow' whilst on a yellow already, and yesterday should have got a second yellow for telling the Ref to look at VAR. Those are both bookable offences. Aside from that, he's a dirty little fucker too.

I think we'll sell him and get Gibbs White. He's a good option but different to GLC although with Bergvall also coming we might have enough creativity still. I just don't see us keeping a player with 1 year left as a squad option and can't see us extending either.

I'd take that to be fair mate, MGW is a really good player, as you say different to GLC but similar quality. I think Bergvall is more of an 8 isn't he?

I'd be gutted to lose Gio but yea with a yr left on his deal if he won't renew and isn't in Ange's LT plans then best to sell.

Gio is decent but 100% move on

injuries have been horrific - constant struggle to get a run of games - cos of fitness from his 1st day - not dependable enough for that reason

I'd rather play Lo Celso as a false 9 than Son as a striker right now, at least Gio can control the ball consistently.

Tell the wide players make runs in behind and create even more space on the edge of the penalty area for no one to shoot.

Okay Lo Celso is not in our long terms plan... fair enough. But not playing him instead of Maddison is not the best for the team and our season.

I respect Ange and what he has done for the club and I love seeing us play again, but not using Lo Celso more is a mistake

Not sure what Lo Celso has to do to get a chance. None of the midfielders are pulling up trees. If nothing changes, nothing changes.
