Faultless tonight and has to cover the idiot right back

You know that's the tactic right? For Serge to be more a winger and cause an overload down the right
With Davies hanging back so Sanchez can be on the right of a 3

No need calling our player an idiot

In games where he has a lot to do he will always do well. He's brave. Puts his body on line. Naturally we don't want our defenders to have a lot of defending to do but he's probably the one player who has unquestionably given it his all each time he plays.

But he doesn't seem to be one or the other, it may be bad tactics but he offers no protection defensively on that side and teams are starting to overload there and he didnt offer anything going forward apart from one good cross and two bad ones, gave the ball away a lot one caused a dangerous free kick and one caused glc booking, I would rather tatanga played there as he can play and defend

I've been very critical of Sanchez in the past but he played well tonight.
Long passes need some work, over hit by about 30yds twice, but he was passing it about more, forward, rather than constantly tapping it back where it came from.
Its probably playing regularly and thats giving his confidence a boost.
Hope it continues.

Hopefully not speaking too soon, but looks to be maturing as a CB. Think he has been pretty decent for a while now and seems to be a bit more calmer in his play and less panicky. Still only 23 and hopefully at a stage where he is pushing on.

Getting a string of games surely improved his confidence like the first year he was with us. Hope he can play the ball forward more instead of playing it to Toby all the time.

Fantastic performance tonight, starting to see some of that first season promise again under Mourinho. Handled Werner superbly and is making some very good blocks and interceptions in the box. Hope he can keep it up.

I’m not gonna lie, it’s seems like a counter-productive tactic though. We’re getting torn apart down that flank far too often and I don’t feel like Aurier is having that effect on the opponents very often at all. If we had a Dani Alves, or even if Trippier was still here, then this tactic would make sense but as it stands I’m really not a fan

Looks like all the reasonable people have been in here recently. Almost every time we play a really good opposition he raises his game significantly. That’s a really good sign for a young defender
