Guys let’s not compare Dele to Dybala and Coutinho. The other two are skilful talented players who even though they may try tricks and flicks it’s with intent, speed and precision they add so much more substance and retain the ball infinitely better than Dele. Let’s take off our spurs tinted glasses.

Saliba- granted
Cabellos- we aren’t in the habit of improving other clubs players with no option to buy, whilst the scum being skint and desperate will stoop so low
Coutinho is not signed & sealed.
Personally it’s champs league over Thursday nights anytime

I was about to say that you don’t win 55 caps for Brazil unless you are a top player. Then I realised that Paulinho has been capped 56 times...

Gilberto got 35 caps !! I think that goes to show that actually all you need is to be Brazilian to get these caps

Both are older for starters. But when you dig in to it, Dybala has never played in the prem and coutinho played in a team that finished above us once!

Also, what are the figures like over the last couple seasons for comparison? Not sure either player has done significantly better than Dele in terms of goals/assists. And that is taking into account that Dybala plays in by far the best team in a weak one team league and Coutinho plays with the best player in the world in a weak 2 team league!

Now I'm not saying Dele is in the same class in terms of technical ability etc, and I acknowledge his flaws, but games are won by actual contributions on the pitch, not the potential to contribute!

Make no mistake, If we sold him, huge teams would bid huge figures!

I think there is a difference between Brazilian attacking players, where the my have significant depth, and then the more defensive/workmanlike players. It’s like Brazilian kids don’t want to grow up and do that stuff, they all want to play as attacking players :sneaky:

FWIW, I think the intent of going after Coutinho is good. He’s quite obviously hugely talented, and would be a low risk signing in term of not needing to acclimatise to English football. However, I’m convinced he’s no more than an opportunity which has fallen into our lap, that we are lining up as a fallback option.
If any 2 from Lo Celso/Fernandes/Dybala don’t come off, he’s a quick contingency given it’s a loan. Also, Betis/Sporting who we’ve been in a standoff of fees/terms of payment, realise we are at our limits of the deal, and have other options.

I would love coutinho to come. Always liked his style of play, his footwork and speed of thought is as good as it gets

Dan KP saying we have been offered but unlikely. Most Tottenham sources saying we haven’t made a move

Very excited about the possibility of this. Would be worth it just to see him ping a free kick into the top corner from 30 yards, although knowing our luck he'd do that Spurs thing where as soon as he walks through the door, he'd instantly lose the ability to take a decent set piece.

He's not a like-for-like Eriksen replacement, but he can pick a pass and does have the ability to make something happen out of nothing, which we've lacked since losing Bale. Adding Coutinho, Dybala, Sessegnon and Atal would make this easily our best ever transfer window, but I know that's very, very optimistic.

Barca seem to quite eager to move him on and I think we are just being used to flush out potential suitors. All the stories seem to be coming out their end.

I do wonder if this is the backup to Dybala, but then you risk missing out on both, especially with Arsenal sniffing around Coutinho. Levy being in Miami and some of the info from Herc and Ali Z suggests it's not just Joorabchian playing games in the media.

Lo Celso and Dybala I reckon. They appear to be the ones we’re actively working.
Coutinho is the ‘in case of emergency break glass’ option. If at 4pm tomorrow we’ve struggled, in goes the call to Barca, ‘we’ll take him’. As it’s a loan, can probably be done quickly. Just to make sure we don’t come out of the window empty handed.
Coutinho is the bird in the nightclub you know you can get, but it’s a short term thing, you’re looking for girlfriend material. If there’s no joy on that front, you go for the one night stand at 2:15 so you don’t go home alone.

With Eriksen clearly in the way out, a loan with an option to buy for a proven prem attacking mid such as Coutinho is a no brainier I’d say.

I'd love it, Coutinho would be a great signing but I would rather have a player locked in and signed up rather than a season with an option to sign who may or may not continue with us after a year or so.

Luckily with Barca also being in Miami, Levy has the advantage :)
Also think the RB will be Hysaj on Loan and not Atal, Napoli also in Miami.

Agree. Hence my analogy about a girlfriend, not a one night stand. But if it’s the choice between that and going home alone, you’d take one night of comfort surely :)
