A bit of time travel to the mid to late 1970's Spurs would be cathartic.

Stuff so bad it was actually fun to endure.
Oh God yes, Sunderland in 1977 is one of my earliest memories because it was so traumatic. 9 years old and watching the Spurs that had been my bedtime stories since I was 3, going meekly down to the second division to Sunderland.
What really hurt though was seeing my Old
Man broken by it.

Still, from the ashes a Phoenix arose and the decade after that were amongst the most glorious in our history.

Ferdinand wasn’t anywhere near as bad as that and a ‘more or less finished’ Klinsmann scored 4 against Wimbledon to ease off very real relegation fears.

My 20th birthday, first ever live football match. I remember at 5-2, we were all singing 'We want six! We want six!' from our little pocket in Selhurst Park. To which Moussa Saib duly obliged...

Still got the programme

Loved the early part and the late part of the 90s. Back when football was about something. When Ginola would have a smoke at half time and Iversen upon leaving a night club very late would smack 1000 pounds on the table for his friends to keep having fun. There was a certain air of devil-may-care, bohemian sort of "Fuck it who cares if we finish 14th, we are still the best. Ever." I also remember the seasons in the mid-90s when we finished like 8th or something. It was just top of the mountain.
I'm saying all of this with a touch of nostalgia of course.

I remember my daughter telling me he copped hold of one of her mates one night in Eros, rode the arse off her.

BTW, this was my first trip to WHL, as a 15 year old.

I got the train with my Dad at about 6:30 in the morning from Northallerton, down to Kings Cross. Did a sport of the tourist stuff... embankment, Big Ben, Buck Palace etc. Then back up to Seven Sisters from Green Park, and walked up the High Road. Sat at the top of the East Upper. And to top it off, my hero Teddy Sheringham scored a hat trick.

My first game was the same season, home to Wimbledon. It did not go well.

Dad and I only went to that one because my birthday present was really to see us vs Man City, which was rained off. We did go see the City game when it was rescheduled but that was months later, we won that one.

I went to that game with my old man too. I think it might have been my third game and we won precisely zero of those. This was the worst - Popescu and Campbell got injured at the same time as I recall and Wimbledon scored their first when we were down to nine. You'd have thought supporting Spurs through childhood would set you up for disappointment but I still find myself suffering with hope.

Love that!

This game is also my first memory as a Spurs fan. I remember having a recording of I assume Match Of The Day on video that I kept watching. Something else was recorded over part of it but I remember this game and I remember Klinsmann hitting 6. Until looking just know I had no idea we were so close to relegation! It's been a fun 20 years...

I still have that programme somewhere... signed by Ginola and a certain centre back I’d rather not mention.

I Remember that season only to well, I was excited at the start after the arrival of Ferdinand and Ginola, and got myself my first season ticket for a couple of years!! I also thought Jose Dominguez, was going to be a world beater based on his early performances, but he kinda just disappeared!!

Seems Iversen left a bag of sand for his pals to party one too many times:

He was so small, that Francis probably just didn't see him, and so stopped picking him. All while poor José was hopping about squeaking "down here boss, here!"

He may still be around here somewhere...
