I would totally take oil money billions if Spurs had the chance to be taken over and get to spend the kind of money that Man City do.

But would you prefer a level playing field?

It's been so long us being on a tight budget, we all want to be able to spend. But i hate what football is becoming. Forget even the city and chelsea, champions league has done so much damage.

Newcastle buy out is apparently a joint venture of a young English businessman and an Arab billionaire.....A guy called Johnny Kidd and Sheik Inallover......sound like a bunch of pirates to me.....(n)

That's all we need another mega club.

I give up.
Hard to imagine us getting taken over - who could afford us? I'm really not sure if I'd be comfortable with us being owned by Saudi money though. Of course I'm probably not being pragmatic and living in the real world etc.

Always wondered why nobody decided to buy Newcastle before, they love football up there and will always sell out now.
Just always seemed to be a sleeping ‘giant’ (not quite a giant though)

Yep. Shit your pants time.
Just like Blackburn, Notts County and QPR before them, mega rich owners are coming in to make them a serious power. Watch out.
Meh.

I guess that at least Blackburn and QPR had genuinely rich owners. Notts County were conned.

Newcastle could certainly benefit from more money. They have a much bigger support than any of those other clubs.

I know I wouldn’t be happy. Newcastle are going to be another club funded by a dictatorship with blood on their hands. If they hate the way Ashley operates, they are going to love these guys...

They only hate how Ashley operates because he's a miserly **** both in business and in the funding of the club. Whoever buys them will do the opposite of the latter and the fans will ignore whatever else they do, like City fans do with Abu Dhabi.

I think/wishfully hope (delete as applicable) that FFP stops clubs from magically becoming super clubs overnight and that any progress Newcastle might have under new ownership will take several years before they are a long-term threat on the CL spots.

Yeah I'm starting to feel this way as well.
I'm honestly starting to hope that the pandemic goes on for just about long enough to send these ivory towers crashing down to earth. Spurs' included.

Money and success has a good way of filtering out morals (not for all obviously). I like the way that we go about it - obviously ENIC don't get everything right but compared to the other possible investors out there, they are definitely the better option.

I detest the way football has developed into a super-rich person's toy that has virtually nothing to do with any of the things that constitute a football CLUB.

Location, history, character, the fans, style, the idea of respecting the fact that football is a sport before a business, an entertainment for the fans before an investment for whatever private purposes the mega rich choose to prioritise...all of this and more means that football is losing the thing that made it the greatest game on earth.

In the long run it will suffer as a result.

We're losing something precious.

This - absolutely. If that makes us dinosaurs then so be it but it's hard to get passionate about it when it's become so unrelatable.
