Just caught up with MotD2. Dear me, the falling over themselves to decry the VAR decision. It's embarrassing.

Guarantee that if it had been the other way round they'd be all "mm-hmm, well that's the rules now, have to accept it."

MOTD 2 was so embarrassing....went into turbocharged proper “in my day” football men mode

It was unhinged. Cahill talking rambling incoherent nonsense unchallenged. Murphy actually loudly arguing it would be better for the game to have blatantly wrong decisions. None of them informed enough to know this was a law change that Guardiola had supported

Really weak editorial decisions. Going to be unwatchable if motd2 carries on down this road

I must be a sadist to have watched last night’s show, but Lineker announcing that Brighton beat us before the game was an amusing fuck up.

Pretty sure it’s the first time that’s happened (at least for as long as I’ve been alive).

I tend to agree. If its so marginal that you can barely tell even with the replay then the decision on the pitch should stand IMO. It's not like the attacking player is really gaining any advantage from that anyway. I appreciate that they have to draw the line somewhere but I think it should have to be clearly irrefutably an incorrect decision for it to be overturned.
But that opens the door to interpretation which is what we are trying to avoid.
You cant have it both ways.
If the law is the law and its the same for everyone then thats it.
Changing the laws as to whats what is the answer here but it has to be solid not flaky.

But it is flakey regardless. Everyone accepts that you have to draw the line somewhere and in paper at least offside is a black and white decision. However with these marginal calls there is no way to be accurate enough about it so it ends up being open to interpretation anyway. We currently don't have tech ology that's accurate enough to just it so strictly therefore there has to be some margin of error involved. Would it really be so outrageous to include an element of "umpires call" style discrepancy like in cricket?

But its been marginalised to next to nothing. Yes its still gonna be given one way or the other but the ridiculous incorrect decisions have been eradicated which is what we all wanted and at the end of the day how many VAR decisions are incorrect by the laws of the game? Almost none.
The very nature of the offside law makes it impossible to call with 100% accuracy but its 100 times better under VAR than a referees decision. Its not black and white, thats the problem.
Christ, I remember when Verts had a goal chalked off for offside when he was 7 yards in his own half with about 4 players in the opp half lol!!! Mendes goal 3ft over the line!!! It was a fuckin shambles before VAR.
I'll finish these wise words, 'It is what it is' lol.

Don't get me wrong, by and large I'm in favour of VAR. It's just the handling of offsides that I think needs to be worked on. Just because VAR is better than nothing doesn't mean there isnt room for improvement. It's still in its infancy so it's only natural that there are certain things that will need to be improved as things develop.

Oh I agree mate its not perfect. The new laws are, to be fair, shit.
But as long as its the same for everyone thats a step in the right direction.
Sure it'll be tweeked here and there and they'll probamake it worse before making it better.

If City are still this vulnerable to counter attacks when they come to the Lane then we're going to absolutely monster them!

Manchester United really are a meat and potatoes type team. These two victories will really convince them that they're better than they are. As if their entitled fanbase need that.

And that gnome manager, Christ I hate him.
