Global financial conditions worsening

player not playing

Other players becoming available

...does not typically equal same price

Will be interesting to see how it plays out

Yup. Inter may potentially regret in January that they did not accept Levy’s offer in the previous TW.

The difference is that levy got what he wanted in the Eriksen deal. Inter have not got what they wanted in the Skriniar deal and neither have we.

The long term issue to caving to any clubs demands is that your position weakens in future negotiations for other players.

I’d still like Skriniar and I’m interested to see how this plays out. Inter need the money and have a player they currently do not want who they can cash in and get 40mil. Or do they hold out for more. If so, for how much longer do they hold out for that?
They were not that keen to sell then?

I do however think this may change moving forward.

I think they are willing to sell, but they clearly have a price and don't want to compromise. It could be down to balancing their finances, if they know how much it will cost to get a replacement and might be due to our negotiations over Eriksen, as Levy played hardball over the price we wanted. I don't blame Inter Milan for waiting for the fee they want and maybe it is some kind of payback to an extent, that Levy cant always have his own way.

I actually think this is pretty simple and will revolve around two questions.

1. Is Skriniar a starting-XI player for Inter by January? If he is, they won’t sell. We simply won’t be offering enough that they can replace Skriniar with first-team quality and also upgrade at another position, certainly not at usually-inflated January prices. If he is still a bench/peripheral player, Conte will be shoving him out the door to be able to reinvest in players he actually wants. So far he’s played 2/3 matches for them...

2. Is there competition? With a lot of top defenses in shambles, others will be looking for a defender in January. If Skriniar is available, Inter will drag this out in hopes Ed Woodward shows up at their doorstep ready and willing to be fleeced.

Wonder if we’ll still go back in for him January?

A pairing of him and Rodon would be rather nice! ??

From what I've noticed from a lot of my friends/their younger siblings who are in high school/college is they don't care. Everyone thinks they are invincible when they are young but let me tell you I learned relatively young that my body isn't invincible and unfortunately my knees are so shot from playing catcher (baseball) for 18 years that I need surgery in both within the next couple of years as there is no cartilage left and running creates extreme discomfort. Unfortunately a lot of kids in the US it seems like just don't care or think it won't affect them at all
Everyone is different. Just seen that Zlatan scored 2 goals yesterday. He had Covid quite recently. He’s 39.

Liverpool. That is the club you are looking for when it comes to Skriniar.

Lets hope Liverpool don't decide they need him. I imagine a lot more clubs might be in for Skriniar in January, especially if Inter are willining to sell him.

Think Liverpool will bring in a CB but don't think they'll go for Skriniar. They don't tend to panic and Skriniar isn't great at defending wide and in a high line, as Liverpool's CBs are expected to do.

He’s the most available CB out there and a very good player. He’ll be a Liverpool player January 1.

Koulibaly and Upamecano are also on the market. Liverpool aren't going to panic buy an expensive defender who doesn't suit Klopp's tactics.
