Yes. Yes I can.Jesus, can you be more self righteous?
Your logic isn't welcome here.I'm not sure what people are expecting to watch, we got Jose in for a reason and that was because he is seen as a manager who can win us trophies. There has already been a big shift in the way we play, you can see what he is working on in training.
We are now a team that gives up possession and play on the break. This is going to be our style, so one may as well get used to teams coming to WHL and dominating us, including the likes of Norwich and Southampton. Watching us now reminds me of watching Man Utd under Jose.
What we should hope to see is improvements in the way we do it rather than the style we play in. We should get tighter at the back and not give up so many clear cut chances, we should become more clinical in our decision making and the way we break.
The rest of this season and next season will tell us everything we need to know. Is Jose still a winner or has his brand of football been left behind.
I think people are forgetting even with son and Kane we got spanked by Brighton and embarrassed by Bayern. Jose has come in and steadied the ship from an aging not as nearly motivated squad. Doesn’t help when our most expensive signing is a dud right now. Jose will need time and a few windows to do the painful rebuild poch was going on about. If we get cl this season it will be a miracle personally. How can Jose use any other tactics when we had nobody on the pitch who can hold the ball up or hold the under pressure apart from Lo Celso. This season is a complete write off for me and I wish we could fast forward to July 1st straight away.

Wow. This is a pretty eloquent and enlightened piece; it also summarises quite eruditely the problems with our restless fan base. We all want the best for our club, and although we are a broad church whose imagined routes to success vary tangibly, we all want our club to dare and, perhaps most importantly, actually do. We have suffered more than most when compared to those who we find ourselves rubbing shoulders with in the upper echelons of the footballing world; but we must stick together to support whichever manager we have. I have my issues with the club at board level, but every manager tries their best to achieve success: Mourinho has come to us at a pretty thankless moment, and he deserves time to have a go at actually achieving something. The overriding problems on a football level are down to the board, not the manager who’s been parachuted in midseason with the squad nosediving. It’s bordering on insanity. It’s almost like a mania for one or two on these boards.
Do you know what my second thought was when Chelsea scored their second goal, after the initial ‘Oh shit!’?
It was how toxic SC was going to be, even though the majority are actually level-headed and pleasant to read and interact with, even if I don’t agree with them. But the one or two outliers and their intemperance can really sour the experience at times. When the likes of vegassd say they don’t post as much, I can see why.
For crying out loud, it’s only been three months. If the season had started the day Mourinho was appointed we’d be third in the table right now. Take a moment to consider that. Third. I can understand people being sore after losing to that shower, but for God’s sake, let’s get some perspective.
The sheer unbridled hatred towards our manager is beyond sickening. For good or for ill, you back the person who runs the team, even if you don’t like how he goes about it. They may deny it all they want, but the relish with which some seem to be revelling in the difficulties we’re facing right now is downright disgusting.
When Santini was appointed, I thought, ‘Who?’, but I still backed him. When BMJ took over, I thought, ‘WHO???’, but I backed him. When Redknapp took over, I thought, ‘Are you kidding me???’, but I backed him. Ramos, AVB, Sherwood - I backed them all because they managed my club, they worked to bring me joy, their livelihood was based on making me proud of my tribe. No matter if they do it well or do it badly, they want the same as me and they should be accorded a basic level of respect. I don’t spit on someone trying to give me what I want. Anyone who does, I’m sorry to say, is acting contemptibly (if that’s a word).
I hate to be unkind, but being proven ‘right’ - worse, claiming to have been proven right when the evidence is still not in, and then rejoicing in it when it’s to your own detriment is illogical, suggests deep psychological issues that really should be addressed (and I’m not saying that lightly) and is, quite frankly, sad.
Maybe try not hoofing the ball up to our 2 diminutive wingers who invariably can't deal with it. Maybe try getting the ball down on the deck and playing through our very talented midfield instead of hoofing it over their heads. Maybe try demanding a bit of energy and pressing to make it difficult for the opposition to dominate possession rather than make it seem like a preference to invite them to come at us repeatedly. Maybe even give our young centre forward a few minutes to see how he gets on since it's a position he's quite familiar with. It's not like there are no options other than what we're getting right now.

Completely agree. You would think the manager would mould his tactics to suit the players he has.Bang on the money. It's like the one option he has set his heart on is the very option we are least suited to.
Zero pressing, inviting endless pressure and bypassing the midfield seem counter intuitive when you consider the players at our disposal.
But pochs tactics were nothing to get excited about dominate the ball pass it sideways and backwards only to be unable to break the opposition down. We've gone backwards. Just to sum it up, in Mourinho's own words... "Would a top-four finish be my greatest feat? In these circumstances, yes," just tells what an incredible job Poch's done. Mourinho's tactics are so diametrically opposed to what Tottenham's style is (was)... What a mistake letting Poch go, instead of backing him. I wasn't exactly over the moon when Mourinho was confirmed as Tottenham's new Head Coach, but really wanted him to prove me wrong.
Look, I'm aware that we're missing our two star attackers, but this is a 25-man squad.. We are paying the price for not playing to our strengths, when Mourinho's opts to park the bus against ...everyone.
Jesus, can you be more self righteous?
None he never existedWell, Jesus was righteous by nature. or perhaps by super natural
Maybe some of us don't want to get used to it. Identity and tribalism are big parts of football supporter's mentalities. Part of supporting spurs is that the team, no matter how successful, play in a certain way. This may be a perception rather than the reality especially during the nineties, but there has always been a flair player or two to counter balance the technical deficiencies of the austins and Dohertys. It forms part of the identity of being a spurs fan.I'm not sure what people are expecting to watch, we got Jose in for a reason and that was because he is seen as a manager who can win us trophies. Exactly what the guys at ESPN said in their analysis :Maybe try not hoofing the ball up to our 2 diminutive wingers who invariably can't deal with it. I understand your reaction to my post. But this is a very narrow way of looking at it. No doubt, the last year under Poch was not optimal, but we still managed to finish in 4th place, and get to an unprecedented CL final. But pochs tactics were nothing to get excited about dominate the ball pass it sideways and backwards only to be unavailable to break the opposition down.
In the CL final Liverpool were happy to allow us the ball because they knew we wouldn't or couldn't score which was the case, we could still be playing that final now and still would not have scored.
Only time will tell if opting for Jose is the right or wrong choice but if we go back to the drawing board again this is on levy.I understand your reaction to my post. But this is a very narrow way of looking at it. No doubt, the last year under Poch was not optimal, but we still managed to finish in 4th place, and get to an unprecedented CL final.
This is in no way masking things were fundamentally broken and the situation needed drastic change. Additionally, the reports of dissatisfaction that were leaking like an an incontinent senior citizen (Joe Lewis?) from the dressing room weren’t exactly helping matters. A change was requisite, but opting for Jose wasn't the right one...

JM is seen as the ultimate anti football (but successful)manager, his appointment undermines the history of attractive spurs football, and its why so many spurs fans are unhappy. we had a very similar situation when Graham was appointed and that worked out well. If he can somehow change his style and managerial approach to fit the club's philosophy I will be converted, but I think it's unlikely.
Your happiness I suppose it depends if you support spurs because you identify with the flair and attractive football philosophy or that winning trophies is what floats your boat (although you must have been very unhappy for the last 30 years). At the moment we aren't doing either so is anybody happy?
